pilots should be able to jump out of thier drop ship.
they are very weak and vulnerable to rail turrets since they are in open air
the gallente ship has its cockpit in the front so that is easy to open and jump out of while the caldari have theirs entering from within so they can just open the door and make a quick jump out the side
its not fair that ccp make you spawn onder the ds when you exit it at certain speeds (this is how they nerf the suicide dropships, called "predator missiles")

Forcing pilots to remain would be perfectly fine, but Dropships have the most open troop transport areas of any vehicles currently in the game: passengers should be able to bail at a moment's notice. |

No, they should not be able to bail.
My Swarm Launcher won the race and they were being to much of an idiot to use an afterburner. Why shouldn't they be punished for it?

I wouldn't mind being locked into the ship so long as redline railguns weren't a thing. At least when forge gunners take me out it was because of good teamwork, good skill, or both. I wish swarms were more of a threat too, though not too much extra damage at proto, just being faster would help tremendously.
But yea, if we could solve the redline, and make railguns balanced while still being good against dropships (slightly more elevation for large railgun turrets), I'd be totally down for that. Making the ship instantly explode should only happen if it takes a certain % of damage past its total. You could also shoot the ship again as it's falling to make it explode.
Giving passengers a chance to bail is important.

Unless of course, you are planning on giving me a weapon that can 1HK every vehicle in this game. No? Didn't think so.
I don't have the right to bail out of my HAV or LAV when it dies, so why should Dropship pilots?
What gives Dropship pilots the right to deny AV the points that they earned?

They're losing the Dropship. How is that not defined as being punished?
Pilots of all sorts should always have an option to bail.

Probably has been suggested but how about on top of the damage needed to send a DS down in flames, add an extra threshold needed to be exceeded that results in instant explosion.
For example, consider a DS with 3,000 ehp being hit with 3,000 damage. As it stands the dropship slowly falls out of the sky giving people time to escape. Now, my suggestion is give the DS x additional "health" which, once depleted, will result in the DS exploding like a tank would but in the sky.
Additionally, if the finishing blow to the DS depletes both the ehp and this added buffer then it will instantly explode.
Again, probably has been suggested, but in case it hasn't, this seems like a fair way to proceed. |

That makes no sense unless the cockpit specifically is targeted.
An LAV a highly exposed frame riding on top of an explosive. Death is expected.
A tank is highly armored, but the pilot is entirely enclosed. If the shell is penetrated there is only one place for the explosive force to go. Death is certain.
A dropship is, for the most part, open. If the front part is penerated, pilot death should indeed be possible. The rear engines exploding would not kill the pilot at the opposite end of the craft, however. He would have more than enough time to open the rear cockpit door and bail out of the side in case of trouble from the midsection or rear. |

true, but his "kill" is the vehicle, the pilot is just extra bonus points for what ever vehicle he "killed"
