I keep reading things on the forums about a possible respec (and specifically what "trees" it would effect--weapons, dropsuit command, etc.). I also keep hearing whispers about new racial suit variants (Caldari heavies, Amarr scouts, etc.).
I have 1m SP saved up, initially so I could get into adv+ Gallent scout suits (since I don't use nova knives/melee and extra scan radius is useful in any scenario).
I'm worried that 1) I'll spend the points on Gallente scout, only to have the new racial dropsuit variants available shortly and 2) there won't be a respec. If there's going to be a respec, I'd probably dump the points in a bunch of rando stuff, just to play around with until the respec.
Anyway, what does everyone think? Think there will be a respec? What's the latest rumor about the timeline on dropsuit racial variants? Should I just hold tight and keep saving?

I believe they are going to give the community a full respec. Alot of people would be pissed off if they didn't.

Dude CCP has been screwing and trolling us since the start of time. They can't really afford too anymore, everything is dying. A respec will breath new life into the mix.

Bank your SP since there is no refund announced yet. You don't want to buy into Gal Scout now, since the Cal Scouts are the ones with the scan range bonus. Or maybe you want to go Commando? Either way, new stuff incoming, SP refund may or may not. |

No , gal is range , cal is percision . They are ewar opposites.
Cal has 4 to catch a low db gal, an a gal only has two highs to catch a cal only using one damp

Both Cal and Gal scout will get get a 5% bonus to scan range. Cal will get an additional 5% bonus to precision enhancement and gal will get a 5% bonus to scan profile.

I have 5 million SP unused. I am afraid to spend it because things always change. I am also afraid that one day all my SP will be go e before I get to spend it. I am taking pictures of my SP and thinking of getting it insured... |

I've got 2.4 million SP saved up n' counting. Advanced Sentinel in all four races, here I come!
(Total side note: I think it's safe to assume you can accumulate another million SP before 1.8 comes out. We're absolutely not going to see it in the next few weeks... too many people at the Shanghai office.)

I said pretty much the same thing and basically got called an idiot by current scout players (go figure). I'm skilling into Gal scout regardless of imminent nerf. The way the new gal scout is going to be set up there will be so many thing you can do with it: Light assault, forward positioning (running ahead and dropping 4 uplinks), and traditional slayer scout can all be accomplished with a little adjusting of mods on the suit.
Should be fun until nerfed

@OP No confirmation from CCP on respec yet and the best estimate for 1.8 arrival is early to mid march. I'd keep saving until CCP confirms there will be an infantry respec of some sort in conjunction with 1.8

Keep your sp if you want to spend them on the incoming suits/weapons.
There might be a respec, there might not. Until CCP clearly confirms that there will be a respec, assume there won't be one!

I have posted this before but...
AT EVE Vegas last year, CCP Praetorian was taking questions after the DUST presentation and was asked by a gamer if racial parity was coming soon. Atli answered (paraphrasing): the suits are coming but we want to release them all at once because the players expect a respec with such substantial changes to the skill tree and its very disruptive to CCP and the community. I think it's around the 45 min mark if anyone wants to go hear it. Anyway, I personally took that as an extremely strong indicator that we will be getting a respec.

The gal scout is worth the investment, this is a low slot game IMO if your strategic with the gal the new high slot, armor rep of 3 passively an a equip makes you powerful.
The cals power lays in shields, an percision, not a lot of lows for combinations, however I find their both strong it just depends on what type of hunter you are

But since they havn't confirmed anything yet i would do as Topher Mellen says.
Me myself i have 2mill SP and i think i will play GALLENTE SCOUT nevertheless, and im not spending it in hopes for CCP to improve Amarr Scout Bonus.

Just use it and stick by your choice. I chose the UP gallante assault frame in uprising and now people say its OP. Also the lazor rifle, been using it since beta and now it sucks, stuck by it usually go 12/5 , and now its getting buffed. Choose and specialize.
