Killzone is as mediocre as it comes. It has NEVER been a stellar game. It sells because its shiny, and because its available. Had Dust been on the PS4 it would have been shiny, and it would have been available. All requirements would have been met for success.
Instead... herp derp 3k player peak. |

In reality I want Dust in the ps4 so I can scrap the ps3, it's probably not easy to port this game to the ps4.. I'd imagine the whole game will have to be rewritten for PS4. It's not a matter of making a few minor adjustments. CELL =/= x86. In an ideal world CCP will have been devloping the two side by side somewhat so that they don't have to start from scratch but who da duck knows.
The game is developed on PC, and ported to the PS3's Cell.
That's why it runs like ass. What we're actually playing it on is the system it ISN'T meant to be on.
The PS4 is closer in architecture to a PC, and even without the massive boost in power it would run far better on it. |

Half of all PS4 owners bought Killzone because its a console exclusive shooter not available anywhere else, and because its one of the only available games on the PS4.
Fewer games = less competition among the consumer base, not more. I didn't buy killzone because of its annoying marketing push. I bought it because it was just about the only damn thing there was to buy.

I believe it was hinted that the Newcastle studio was supposed to be working on the PS4 client, but they got reassigned to Valkyrie.
Gonna be funny when they find out that there is almost no playerbase for the Rift. |

Killzone has a lot more going for it than simply PlayStation exclusive. Killzone is a popular brand that has always sold well (and has never been a launch title before and still sold well) and had a huge marketing push for the PS4 version. I'm not saying all purchases were made because of this, but a lot were. You can't just assume because Dust would also be a PlayStation exclusive that it would of had the same success.
I've played every iteration of killzone and yes, I can indeed assume that. Sony has never had its own Halo, and Killzone has always tried to hype itself up as the Halo Killer. People don't buy the game because its good. They buy the game because why the hell not. It's not like they have anything better to play. |

I believe the scenario you have just described is the exact one we find ourselves in on the current PS3 platform, the only difference is that more people would be buying PS4's in the future and its player base will continue grow, whereas the PS3's are becoming obsolete and its playerbase is continuing to decrease. Absolutely Dust finds itself in the same situation, but the thing is moving to PS4 is a great opportunity to get people to try your product again. If Dust was already on PS4 and in this situation, they wouldn't have an opportunity nearly as great to get people to try their game again once they got it further along.
CCP in their infinite wisdom believe they wil get a re-review on the PS4 and it will wash away the abominable scores they got on the PS3.
Yea... probably not gonna happen. |

No, CCP is a good example of what happens when you have a schizophrenic managerial staff that can't decide what the hell they should be working on, and a bunch of programmers that constantly make excuses about what to develop next because "That seems complicated, lets put it on the backburner forever even though we just advertised it at fanfest". |

Not calling any names or trying to be insulting, but this is exactly the kind of behavior they have been exhibiting for the last decade. And it's beyond frustrating to deal with. |

And it's beyond frustrating to deal with. Meee one is my type of guy. Ok! We get it! You got a PS4 and now owning a PS3 makes you feel 'uncool'. Stop throwing a tantrum! CCPs business model doesn't make sense to you because you're into the 'latest and greatest'. CCP wouldn't be in business right now if they didn't know what they were doing. 80 million PS3s are still out there, and that is a massive potential market.(quoted from EVE vegas) Also, thank you for the compliment.
If my fixation was on the latest and greatest, I wouldn't be on my PS3 in the first place. I have a gaming PC which far outranks even my PS4.
What I'm into is a gaming experience that has an active playerbase and doesn't look and run like ass. Dust has a small playerbase, and both looks and runs like ass. The PS4 simply happens to be able to fix all of those problems.
Until this game can hit a 30 FPS consistent minimum it isn't even a legitimate competitive game.
And it doesn't matter how many PS3's have been sold across the world. Many of them are collecting dust, many of them are broken, many of them are owned by the same people, and all of them have access to a much bigger library than the PS4.
It doesn't matter how you do the math, there are going to be fewer people interested in Dust on the PS3 than on the PS4 simply by virtue of the size of the competitive library. |

Nope.
There is no contract keeping it on the PS3. CCP themselves confirmed that. The only thing keeping it on the PS3 is CCP and their infinite wisdom. |
