I've been noticing a trend of KDR padding(tanks usually) and camping in pubs. Why do people blatantly lose matches?

@OP, not quite sure what you're talking about. People have been stat-padding forever. It's just easier now thanks to tanks.
If it HAS increased, it's thanks to the new improved killboard.

Kdr in this game requires aim assist, a good squad , proto gear and vehicles.
But get a lot of those guys alone and they get exposed.

Heh, well I jumped into a random ambush that had been going for a while. Two blue uplinks, spawned on first one, got shot in the back by a tanked proto gal logi with CR, spawned on 2nd uplink, insta killed by remotes, and with that the game was over, total play time for me was <2 seconds... Look at end game screen...
Got 3 Balacs ARs in my salvage... O.o ...Totally worth it (suits were 360 isk each).
Go ahead, pad your KDR, everybody knows about it so nobody cares and you miss out on the fun of LOL matches, running a NK heavy or Jihadi Jeeps.
And you're not willing to do what it takes to win the match. You brag about KDR, you get kicked from squad, you're a boring player and a liability, not an asset.
Your W/L ratio is far more important to me.
That my KDR has been higher than my W/L has at times been a cause for concern for me, I'll work on that.
Plus its so much easier to snipe players staring at an uplink :) |

And they still have a 5 + KDR.

I use a Plasma Cannon. Not because it's good, but because I want it to be good so desperately :(.
I couldn't even blow up a Militia LAV with two shots with an Enhanced PC with two damage mods on the hood (the weak spot of the LAV) |

I've padded mine all the way up to .72! Per match, I kill fewer people than inertial dampener fails. I die in my quarters more than most clones die on the field. I usually get killed a couple of times in the War Barge.
Free, on-demand Respecs. Because it doesn't matter and no one should care.
Matchmaking by KDR proximity. :)

Hard to say if it is KDR padding or if it is just normal run of the mill stomps. It is hard to tell if someone is actually trying to pad KDR in this game. How can you tell between someone's basic play and "I am going to inflate my KDR"? |

I pretty much gave up bothering with pubs.
I'm just in them to get sp now.
honestly I got tired of the same old scenario, blue berries use militia and it's your job to bleed isk fighting proto suits, and tanks, and every other dam thing so they can have a decent match in their militia suits.
what incentive do we have to try and win? not a damn thing....
pc is locked down, pubs are pointless, making isk while winning is near impossible, playing as infantry is a pain in the ass with tanks around, seriously i'm forced to do die hard stunts every god damn match now because of tanks, theirs no such thing as a casual match anymore.
if you counter one tank, they bring 6 tanks. they are never ending and under costed.
imo it's quite a dark time for dust, and exactly what players expected of tanks being pushed =/ |

The rail rifle hasn't helped this trend either.
They need to add some more protection around points to force people to move in to take them.
And of course, payouts need to increase in pubs and the rewards need to be reworked to give incentive to winning and performing well. <-I'm starting to feel like a parrot stating that.

Real players? I know a few guys from corp like this and when we sync against each other they're damn hard to play against.
I recognise a few players from other corps like this as well. These are the guys/gals I look up to.

Couple guys like that in my corp, run BPO's the whole game and go 28/3 against protos. I call them "a lot better than me" and enjoy the WP I make logi'ing for them.
There are also a lot fewer of those people than there are stat padders.

i tank and ill admit my stats are a bit padded by tanks post 1.7..however i do it simply because it is easier to do and still proffit its easier to survive without loss..and dust isk reward in pubs is ****..doesnt matter what u do only how little you lose because what you do wont increase your pay to make it worth doing ..however aproaching every battle and only trying not to die not to lose anything makes me isk..
in short you make more isk trying to stat padd and run with 0 deaths than you do going all out and winning the match..
until there is a reason to win..expect people to find they're meaning to the word win..for example winning for me is not losing isk..thats all that matters to me..and i could care less about the rest of my team in pubs as they are not going to help me do anything except die

Just making a point that normally no one mentions, some players are just good.
They haven't padded any stats to get, well good stats. They're simply good.
No excuse from the less skilled part of the community will change that.

The stat I would like to see is ISK efficiency.
ISK Value of Items destroyed / ISK Value of items lost.
Value AUR items at the ISK value of similar tier ISK market items.

Some of the guys I run with claim that I am better than I think I am. They claim that never running anything above a standard suit is impacting my performance. Personally I donGÇÖt think I can consider myself good until I can consistently get a positive KDR in a Standard suit against full Proto opponents.
(Of course that is on my Heavy, who is slow and does not have equipment slots, so KDR and Win/Loss are about the only stats I can go for. My W/L is well over 2, but my lifetime KDR is still below 1.  )

Perhaps this is a lack of WP issue. I watch people camp with a scanner and not even look at the objective once. They finish with best K/D but lose the match and take 8th place on their team.
Maybe if their were defend bonuses for WP and things like that so that killers had a reason to use their skill for the betterment of the team. And they would kill targets that matter instead of straggler MLT noobs. Winning matters. ISK generated matters as well.
