Curious what people would do now depending on their role in the game? What class would you pick? What dropsuits would you pick, where would you put your first few SPs at?
I restarted new characters trying to see how I would do it, knowing now what I know.
I think I would probably invest on making my weapons more efficient (choosing my specialization in a light weapon) and then put points into shield and speed for a Scout or Light Dropsuit.
What would you do?

I have been through two full respecs and one partial respec (vehicles) and have defined what I need to do the role that I have chosen. Giving me another full respec or a partial one (infantry) is only going to change that I put the 2 million in Assault Rifles into Rail Rifles instead and keep my Advanced Caldari Suit.

Role - that annoying little **** running around the battlefield.
Currently spec'd into assault and scout, and a good amount of points into caldari light weapons.
If rerolling I'd spec only into scouts drop a couple weapons and shore up core skills.

I would recommend making a character and letting it sit for a week. every day and night login and farm the two malt slots.
You should now have an toon with 7,000,000 isk and around 700,000 SP. Spec into tanks and basic mods. then start working on turrets. You will have a character that makes isk every battle and does pretty well KD wise too.
Or you could take your chances on the ground. Yeah, a hamburger joke.

One thing I definitely wouldn't do is waste the SP getting the proto basic Gallente assault suit. And given how ineffective swarms have become, I'd love to have all that SP back and apply it elsewhere.
I love my proto sniper build (medium suit) but I also like to play as a scout and, more recently, a heavy. I'll probably look at investing into the Gallente heavy frames whenever they drop.
Life is killing me.

My AR SPs would go directly into AV (swarm variety). I was playing last night and almost soloing tanks with Adv AV Nades and Adv Swarms. Once I get proto and my launcher to prof 5 I'm sure I can pop a tank or two solo. If not that noob with militia or Std Swarms can finish the job. Since I CAN'T GET any AV help for tanks I have to find a way to do it solo. |

Amarr Logi instead of Gal... I went logi as my main because of the sheer diversity of the options. But only after screwing up and forcing myself into the Gal medium tree.
I would never again spec into any of the other weapons (currently spec'd into ALL of them), and stick with my favorites: AR, MD and RE's.
I would not spec into vehicles again, especially LAV, as militia is easily as good at doing what i use them for.
Sigh.
Shouting doesn't make your opinion seem more valid, it just makes you seem more annoying.

I would go into the exact same **** that I did when I first started playing (Scout with sniper rifles and shotguns), except I would stick to it instead of devouring SP by exploring every possible playstyle like I have.

AssumingIn hadn't watched all the cool promotional videos, I would have gone straight to the rifle, then an assault suit.
If I had got a respec, I would put 1 into mass drivers, max out my core skills and wait.

Yeah I agree there. I've always loved speed rather than being some heavy **** head with a lot of power. I love the rogue class in classic RPGs. To me a Shot gun on a Scout is like a backstab to your opponent.

CCP should allow at LEAST one Respec, but then again... I also kind of appreciate the "No Forgiveness" quality of this Universe!

If CCP keeps changing the rules of the game, then it's kinda pointless to just pick one thing.
Right now, I wonder what it would feel like to be a fully speced commando with lvl 5 combat rifle and a lvl 5 rail rifle.
I'd be curious to know which is more maneuverable, a kincat tanked assault suit, or a armor tanked scout.
I would lean entirely toward highly mobile build. Those slow moving chunkers are for the birds.

I would most likely skill into Heavy Suits, Commando, or Sentinel, Amarrian weapons, and shift my shield based skills into my Core Skills area. Then I would spec into Nanite Injector and Nano Hives to complement the Commando role.
If Amarr MAV and HAV were in the game then all of my SP would be directed into those, including Amarr MTAC and fighters.

OP, I honestly don't know.
If I had to answer right now, as the game is today, I probably wouldn't change much, the only SP I tossed are the Laser Rifle ones and the Corporation ones.
If you ask me the same thing once the new armors are out, I'll let you know then.

Currently a jack if all trades; in all suits except scouts, maxed shields and armour, and in every single weapon. All pretty low level except minmatar logistics which is maxed, and assault rifle which is Prof 3. Also in vehicles but too low level to be effective.
With a full respec i would specialise. Go into cal assault,and minmatar logi. With the rest i would max out shields, armour, assault rifles and scrambler rifles and dabble with the rail rifle. |

The real trouble comes from the Gunnlogies, but Maddies and Somas shouldn't to difficult once you've got the strafing down. But once you run into NOS modded tanks or cycled hardeners, you might rage a bit.
Oh, and get a Complex Profile Dampener in your lows. Best thing you could ever do as AV.

Having run logistics forever now, I'm done with that. I've grown very tired of people thinking I should constantly carry just about everything and always provide scans besides, then when I die in a 200-300k Isk suit to carry all that equipment everyone wants, nobody revives me hardly. Either going to move into dropship piloting and tank driving or moving into assault suits with only CR/RR and SMG. Getting rid of all other weapons I have except those three. I'm going to turn into someone who is either going to be primary fire on the front lines, or I'm just going to revert to an artillery support through HAVs and dropships.
