[Squad orders] Defend orders are placed on a squadmate and used to farm free WP to get strikes, makes other squad orders unused. Despite the implications of the word "defend", you don't actually have to protect the defend target, the defend order merely multiplies the WP earnings of the target. (thread)
[User interface] We have no way of quickly knowing who in a chat or contacts are online, in a battle, and/or in a squad. (thread)
We have no way of knowing who is talking without having to open the chat menu. Its no problem when you're in a squad of people who's vices you already know, but if you're on team chat, or an unfamiliar squad, it can become a hassle. (thread)
[Matchmaking] Matchmaking is broken. Not just in the sense that it puts skilled players against unskilled ones, but also has teams of 0 or 3 against full teams of 16. It also adds players to battles that are ending or about to end. (thread)
[Risk/rewards] ISK rewards don't reward enough. Even after gaining tons of WP and a positive K/D in a 23k cheap fit, profit is still very low. The net gain is often lower than the ISK rewards from AFK farming. (thread)
FW rewards aren't worth it, even in level 10 standing. It i essentially high risk low reward. (thread)
The most effective and cheap AV option to fight a tank is another tank, likewise the most cheap effective anti-infantry option is also a tank. While dropsuits are cheaper, the combined cost of average deaths far outweighs the cost of one highly survivable tank.
Low risk behaviors like redline sniper and redline rail tanks are rewarded greatly.
Friendly district-locking in PC
[New player experience] The new player experience is awful, and leads to bad player retention. Part of this is matchmaking, which I covered above.
Part of this is the lack of actual gameplay tutorial to learn many aspects of the game (like hacking, calling strikes, squad orders, calling vehicles, using vehicles, using active vehicle active mods, using equipment, etc).
Part of it is the massive gear differences; I'm fine with the existance of higher tier weapons, modules, and equipment, but do we really need 4 tiers of dropsuits on top of that? item progressing would be fine if dropsuits only had 2 tiers (skills would just give bonuses instead of unlocking new tiers). (thread)
These issues would be less bad players had options beside PVP, but they're forced to play against vets.
[Basic frames have no purpose] (thread) In 1.8 we will have 48 basic frame suits, the 12 militia ones for testing without skills, but the remaining 36 (standard-prototype) are basically inferior AND more expensive versions of a specialized suit. Specialist suits are not really specialized if they're basically copy/pasted basic frames with bonuses slapped on (basic mediums to assaults, basic heavies to sentinels). Basic frame suits provide a way to test drive one specialization's role, but not another's; for example, the basic medium lets you test-drive the assault role in a way, but not logi, which is not fair. They need a price cut, they should be at least 10% cheaper than their specialized counterpart, they should be the cheaper alternative to specialize suits. Lower SP cost or not, inferior suits should cost less.
They should be very generalized and versatile in slot layouts compared to their specialist counterparts, like a middle ground between the specializations of the frame size; this could be done by altering the basic frames (like medium basics get a 2nd equipment slot and lose a module slot in exchange). This would let players try out more roles with a basic to better deciding what to specialize into.
[Game modes] All our modes are currently simple generic game modes, with no design creativity like the original Skirmish 1.0. We need interesting modes with complexity, attack/defend, and multiple stages. Ambush is broken, and has ALWAYS been broken since the dawn of Dust. Its about time we abandoned the idea of "random" spawns, and use defended spawn bases; our spawn points are very predictable anyway so they're already like that anyway, so why not make them highly defended. Domination is not only not unique enough compared to Skirmish, its also boringly one-sided, the team that gets the objective first and spams the most uplinks generally wins. The objective needs to cycle to various spots on the map to keep things interesting, and to give the losing team a chance. (thread)
We have no options beside PVP, part of the new player experience problem.
The lack of modes is the absolute WORST thing about this game to me.

An excellent summary and I agree with all of them, Kagehoshi. Unfortunately, the Shanghai office is just starting their two week Chinese New Year break and they are the ones that really need to review this. Make sure you bump this thing on February 8th and send a friendly tweet to CCP Saberwing at the same time just to bring this back up as they are getting back to work.

I couldn't get any gastuns hmg or forge guns all through beta, purposefully killing heavies using them.
A week ago I afked a Dom, I got 3 gastuns hmg. I then afked another Dom and got 3 gastuns forge guns. In fact afking gets me more officer drops than anything else. If I want officer drops I afk, mind blown.
Also I get 200k afking, I can confirm that squad mates who can be bothered get 250k roughly after putting in Max effort while I get 200k for nothing.
Also I'd like to add that very rarely I'll get as low as 29k afking but this is extremely rare. The isk and sp rewarded barely warrants the effort most of the time and especially if your corp is grinding isk for pc, it becomes even more pointless to bother.

Red-lines should be giant Shield barriers extended from the Warbarge done in a very New Eden way. Being behind the shield barrier doesn't allow you to shoot out of it and or receive fire from within. Allowing red-lined teams to full respawn, call in appropriate vehicles and dropships, group up and push out of the red-line and gives that side a fighting chance to come back.
The shield should only allow one pass through, meaning once you leave the safety of the shield barrier it cannot recognize you independently and let you run back into the red-line. Because the red-line shield barrier wouldn't allow damage to pass through from either side it will also nullify a lot of the players who choose to spend 80% of their game time in the red-line not contributing to their team, or truly getting the New Eden Experience of competition in the battlefield as they are not fully on it.
Furthermore if you are in the red-line for 2 minutes+ they can just blanket kick everyone from the match... Stopping the AFK in a "safe area" that hurts both sides of competition. It's of course not the players fault they take advantage of this, the blame lies with CCP. |

I also find it funny how salvage is given out, I tend to get better or more salvage while I AFK as well.

would add: virtual training rooms for corps & the weapons lab. both can change FPS as we know it, the WL because it lets players see if weapons fit their playstyle before spending SP on them, and the VTR because FPS has never really seen a training environment [the BF test range is close, but some idiot decided it was better to train alone as no one can join ur session]

Not all the assault rifle variants suck- It may just be because I don't have aim assist turned on (Add that to the list), but I cut people down much more quickly with assault combat rifles than with normal combat rifles.

I'd like to see light AV use equipment slots; spare magazines would have to be cut, and damage would have to be increased to relevant levels, but it would create a less shoehorned AV meta: AV becomes an infantry specialization rather than a completely separate role. [1]
Like Remote Explosives, Light AV belongs in the equipment category.
Which leads me to a personal gripe: You cannot see what equipment and weapons an infantry player has equipped besides what is actively being used.
There is no way for vehicle users to reliably identify AV infantry at a glance, and thus avoid or deal with them first. Likewise, you cannot see if a logistics suit is running a repair tool unless it is actively being used. Adding that feature would improve the general game play experience for everyone.
Just a thought.
[1] Incidentally, that is how AT infantry works in the real world: Anti Tank Riflemen have a standard issue rifle and pistol, and an ATGM - which is classed as specialist equipment. Typically the AT-Rifleman only carries 1-2 missiles, and spares are carried by the AT-Rifleman's combat buddy - usually a Rifleman. If the AT-Rifleman was not equipped with a standard issue rifle, he/she would be combat ineffective most of the time, as missiles and rockets are not an efficient or reliable way of dealing with most forms of infantry: too slow; too little ammunition; too inaccurate. Rockets are typically only used against infantry when the infantry is bunched up and/or in a hardened location (bunker and the like). |

BTW Defend order and Rally order operate exactly the same except rally does not even need a target. It can be placed on the ground, walls, vehicles, people, installations, objectives, anything and anywhere.

I'm on the east coast and I usually don't have that much problem with lag, though I don't really PC so can't comment on that. Actually had more than usual this week (normally only a couple matches a week at most), presumably due to the ludicrous equipment spam during the SP event.
