So far we've learned about: New Heavy suits and stats New Scout suits and stats New Sidearms and stats New Equipment and stats
Likely but not concrete: New medium suit stats. New maps
Yet to be explained in detail: Cloaking
That is a lot but there is still so much more they couldn't be telling us, this patch will get over 2 months of time to develop so it's likely there will be more in store. All these things but the maps were hinted on in the test server and are gear based.
What other changes do you guys think are coming with 1.8?
Possibly: New light weapon stats Infantry tree rework Vehicle rework Player trading NPE and Academy overhaul

EDIT: The goal of these balance passes is to both increase over all weapon balance and increase TTK a little.
Do you have a link to where this is confirmed?

Maybe not a complete rebalance like 1.7 but some tweaking to certain modules.

EDIT: The LR and assault weapon class passes were specifically confirmed in different threads, though.
He also states that scouts were losing sidearms but that never came to be.

However, considering that they said they "need to check before confirming or denying", I would say 1.9 is a safe bet.
I'm pretty sure there will be no 1.9, but a 2.0 or "expansion name" 1.0. They want to have as much new content as possible for fanfest. If they had the new vehicles by then I would be extremely impressed.

The lack of blue tags recently both excites and annoys me.

1. Damage on Swarms will likely increase. They are meant to do consistent damage rather than burst yet cannot really overcome passive Shield Regeneration. I see the damage increasing while the range stays the same. 2. Militia Tanks are going to be hit in the PG/CPU department and Militia modules are likely going to be less effective number wise (less effective rather than just having a worse active to cooldown ratio). Other than that, no real change to vehicles. 3. Maybe not in 1.8, but I see damage of the weapons going down across the board. I foresee them making the Assaults and Commandos do more damage by investing levels into them (3% bonus damage for Hybrid Weapons per level of Caldari Assaults, 3% bonus damage to explosives and projectile weapons for Minmatar Commando, etc) and then lowering the damage of the weapons. It gets rid of the "Slayer Logi" problem and doesn't change TTK. They are already doing it by making equipment less effective and giving logistic suits bonuses for certain types of equipment. Makes sense that it would happen to weapons next.
Be well.
I figured they'd tie a racial rifle stat to all the assault suits and then reduce the effectiveness of the rifles to give the assaults a more defined role. Much like the Scrambler Rifle and Amarr Assault aren't really as effective without each other. The logi bonus and equipment changes are also an indication that they might do something like this.
