Dust has become my favorite game. It has become my main game. When I play on my PS3, it is this game.
I play because I need to get better. I play for those moments where I destroy the opposition. I play for those moments where a suit I had built lives up to and beyond my expectations. I play for those moments where my squad is the best in the match and we stomp any opposition.
Is it bad that when I lose, I get angry? Is it bad that when I lose, I don't stop playing the game?
When I lose, I think to myself how the only way to fix it is to 'git gud'. I must play more, attain more SP, unlock more equipment( anything material, not just 'equipment).
After I lose, I hunt for a game to stomp, and stomp hard.
Have I become what I fought against most when I started playing this game? |

Thanks, I was afraid I would be seen as an element that makes the game worse for new players. |

If you get angry when you die or when you lose, it only means you have an emotional investment in the game -- which, from where I sit, is a good thing.
If you died or lost and didn't care....then I'd be worried. |

The ability to ask yourself this question means you haven't.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.

All of us vets go through something like this I think. We all look for improvement.
Some of us look inward for improvement, and try to get better at the game by getting better gear, or better FPS skills. They do this because they care about the shooter that Dust is.
Some of us look outward for improvement, we try to see what needs improvement, and do what we can yo fix things. We try to make the game better by affecting the development of it, because we can and being able to converse with developers as much as our community does is something of a rarity among video gaming communities, so we try to make the most of it and try to affect the game in a positive way. We do this because we care.
We all begin to care about the game at some point. Even the people that stopped playing ages ago, still pop their heads into the forums to see how things are, because deep down, they care. They want Dust to be the thing we saw years ago in videos and teasers.

I've gotten so emotionally invested that I all but stopped playing games with the people I've been gaming with for 4+ years and started gaming with a new crew of friends I met in Dust

I wouldn't say getting angry about losing or dying is a good thing, that's not to say don't try to win, just accept that killing and dying along with winning and losing is part of the game.
You cant actually lose games nowadays anyway.

I am surprised the assets haven't been introduced into the gaming culture before this game. I have always wanted an arsenal that existed. If I died I couldn't just magically appear with the same loadout. When we got refunded after chrome I had 560000000. Damn i stocked up on gear. I wish I had it all now that I can use it.

Good post. Here's a card for you ^^
Page of Cups (Reversed):
- A fantastic draw! Your actions have been perceived as a calling to those following suit. A naivety in nature has shown in your honest message to the community.
- Advice: As you continue your DUST career and grow either to raise your cup or exceed it, carry this feeling with you and remember you have brought an important message to many.
