Do you think it is worth playing beyond the skill cap? The current sp event would make it easier since one would only have to get 200 warpoints to reach the maximum benefit. (without using a booster) |

even if sp is your only real reason for grinding playing after capping is worth it. Sure 1k sp is a tiny amount but every little bit helps.

I generally consider it wasted effort to play beyond the skill cap. If I cap, then I move to an alt.

Depends what you are after really. If you are only playing because of Skinner Box-esque "increase the numbers", then I suggest playing a different game as you are not really enjoying this one. If you want to maximize your profit, switching to an alternate character isn't a bad idea as it lets you get more SP overall and try new things. If you are enjoying the fun of the game, I would just stick with your primary character overall and call it good.
Let's look at some numbers though. Let's assume that you pull at least 1,000 War Points every match. Say you can do 4 matches in an hour. That's 4,000 extra SP an hour. Play for 2 hours a day, an extra 8,000 SP. It is basically increasing your Passive SP by 1/3. Play more matches or have an Active Booster and the amount per hour/day increases greatly. Say you play an extra 24 matches a week. That is 382.4k rather than 358.4k a week.
For me a couple of times, playing past cap was enough for me to get something I wanted NOW a day or two earlier. Basically, it isn't huge but it can add up quickly.

When i cap my main, i switch to one of my alts, i can choose: heavy, tanker or test guy.
Now only the heavy and the test guy are available, but most of time i play with my main.
1.8 it's so secret that nobody know what will be in it, even after patch notes...

I'd say only if you are double boosted, and are in dire need of SP. When I was on dual 30ds (one an Omega passive) I was able to make 1 mil SP in a non-event week by grinding ambushes after cap. |
