Suggesting tanks be visible with in range of your radar display and the possible deletion of scanners for tanks. They seem to share the same stealth abilities as dropsuits. They are like ninja hippos. I would like to suggest also that any tank called in should minus 5 clones on the clone count. Seems like a fair trade off.

They're friggin noisy, can be followed via anyone's map and they light the area up in front of them completely changing the lighting dynamics in an area.

The only way they can sneak up on you, is if you're not paying attention... and if so, you really deserve to get hit.

As true as this is, it is still pretty silly that they have a lower scan profile than many dropsuits.

The only time a ninja hippos sneaked up on me was in open field. That thing flew over a hill and almost ran me over. Other than that, the "wwwwwWWWWWWOOOM....wwwwwwWWWWWWOOOM" usually tells me they're coming.

Tanks don't have a lower scan profile than dropsuits. You can test this yourself by standing next to an enemy tank (hopefully unoccupied) and turning your back to it; if it disappears, it has a lower profile than your precision.

The problem is that the range of passive scans on most suits are extremely limited (10m base). So if you are facing the wrong way, the tank would have to be within 10m of you for it to appear on your radar. If you are facing the tank as it approaches, it should appear on your minimap if your crosshairs are over it, or if it is visible on your screen and within 60-70m or so.

But if you don't have line of sight, then you must rely on either active or passive scans to detect tanks.

I think the fix would be that, if the tank is in audible range, it should appear on your radar.

Why? Because our far-future power armor with hundreds of gigaflops of processing power and, according to flavor text, sensor suites equivalent to vehicles', should have no problem whatsoever triangulating and displaying the location of something as noisy as an LAV or HAV.

This IS true but they should show up on the radar more.

With all scan skills at lvl 4 AND running Scout suits its still damn hard to detect them on the tacnet.

I don't belive it should be this way.

I think speed is actually part of the issue you're feeling. It's not that we can't scan them, it's that they move too fast for it to really matter.

Yes, the speed at which the vehicle moves, combined with it not showing up on scan and not knowing if it's friendly or enemy means you definitely can be snuck up upon by a tank.

I dislike that tanks and other large things such as turrets and CRU's do not show up on your radar by default, they are much larger by orders of magnitude than suits and should have a larger detection radius.

The audio seems a bit wonky to me though. Sometimes I'll hear dropships in the air I can't actually see or a tank will cruise right up to me without making a sound.

Sure I can see them on the overview map even though nobody has scanned them but that watching the overview map leaves me vulnerable to any attack.

And as you said they are noise and our scan profile is based on noise soooo tanks should really have a bad scan profile...but sometimes I stand behind a tank that is not showing up on my radar

Nobody has still been able to address why tanks every now and again won't show up on my active scanner sweeps (has to be a bug somewhere). Have had it happen more than once. Scanned an area, cleared out reds, and scanned again only to start moving forward and be killed by a blaster tank that was behind a wall or around a corner less than 100m away.
