I've seen so many posts about how you have to have a fast trigger finger to fire the combat rifle super-fast. In fact, you don't even have to press the button very fast at all for the weapon to fire automatically.
Here's a video to help demonstrate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLAwF860swU&feature=youtu.be
As you can see, pressing the button as fast as possible actually makes the weapon fire very slowly because half of your button presses are DURING the burst, meaning that it only fires the next time you press the button after the burst has ended. In other words, you're wasting effort if you try and press the button as fast as possible.
The best way is to time your presses to be exactly as soon as the burst ends. Once you get "in-rhythm" with the weapon,
However, if you have a fast trigger finger you may in fact like the scrambler rifle a lot better. I show in the video that button presses DO equate to rounds fired with the SR, whether you press the trigger slow or fast. This is the only weapon in the game that I know of that does this because of its high fire rate. Even so, there is in fact a limit and if you press the button faster than that limit you will get the same effect as the combat rifle. This is very hard to do though, and I'm not even fast enough to make this happen unless I turn the controller upside down and button mash it with my thumb (Still have it from those mario party days).
Finally, there is a downside to this. Every time you fire the weapon it raises the barrel ever so slightly. At the end of the video I show you how when you fire it while scoped, the gun raises up quite a bit. This is probably the best way to practice firing the weapon as you can see how many of your button presses are hitting at the perfect time. Every time your gun raises up a bit it means that you timed the shot perfectly. When your gun lowers back down it means you broke the chain. ________________________________________
The thing is, I did post this in general discussions so I want your opinion.
Do you think that the Combat Rifle needs to have more of a delay in-between bursts to prevent this from happening? Is this abusing the mechanics of the gun or is the simply the correct way to fire the weapon? Would you consider being able to fire the weapon like this "skill" or is it just understanding the weapon?
Give me your feedback and maybe this will give you a reason to try out the combat rifle again, or help you understand how some players are able to make the CR the deadly weapon that it is.

Well to start off I just wanted people's opinions. I'm not against the CR at all, but I see it in posts daily about how the CR is OP simply because players have faster trigger fingers...and that is simply not true at all.
But if you actually saw the video and watched as I scrolled past 90% of my fittings which all use some variation of the CR in them...you could probably guess that I use the CR more than any other weapon.
Which would mean that I probably don't want to change the CR, but instead want to argue against why it should ever be changed at all because of the mechanics you even specifically stated in your post.
Gah, what is it with people and thinking that every thread out there about a weapon is a "NERF DIS NAO" thread? -_-
