Personally the tougher the opponents and risky attacks are my favorite
- Running at a Forge Gunner and slicing that fool is epic - Flanking and eliminating enemy squads
So out of curiosity how do most players use their Nova Knives..?? Since the 'Shinobi' Event I have seen lots of Ninjas, some good, some bad
I seriously have no respect for the guys I have seen camping corners with Proto Knives You know who you are !!!!

I generally get into really dense urban environments with tight corners and a lot of escape routes of needed. Sometimes If I'm having a really bad game I'll just lock down a certain null cannon and stop any groups from taking it over. |

I can get knife kills when at objectives, CRUs, supply depots and turrets when the merc is busy interacting with whatever it is. Snipers are pretty easy too. Any other time is pure luck.
I hate heavies with HMGs. They always seem to turn around at just the right time.
I'm a really bad knifer.

Occasionally. Although I've ran into some dishonorable battles;
1. (Bait n' Switch) They coax you to pull out your knives, ergo you do expecting a challenge, then he pulls out a gun when you get near or out of cover.
2. (Good cop, Bad cop) Scout runs around with NK, you draw yours, square off, then his buddy mows you down.
3. (Don't wanna play? who cares.) Found myself spawned in skirmish by myself against a full squad. I get their attention for an NK fight and they shoot at me, they even called in a Tank. I leave the battle after 3 deaths, let them bump their noggins. |

I must deal with target with low HP or wounded, a charged shot with my std knives don't kill anyone. Plus i'm using a LP std gallente suit, i've tried adv knives on a alt, they are much more effective.

I got mine by trying to kill with the knives first and only switch weapons when I was spotted... Needless to say I died a whole lot. People seem to change their minds (and direction) at the most inopportune times.
But I guess a repetition of the old scout tips are in order: [list]Cover, cover, cover, use it, like always.
Don't run out into the open trying to knife someone, chances are that someone will see you and shoot you just as you are about to cut the guy. (Which is both hilarious and embaracing!)
If you see an enemy moving, figure out where he is heading and try to move (in cover) to where you think is a good place to ambush him.
Using a scanner during this event isn't a bad thing, it nothing else you won't try to knife this one guy that oops was in the middle of a squad. If you see someone heading your way wait at a corner with your knives charged and lunge at them when walk by.
When you see a heavy with 1.2+k HP it's a good idea to maybe go somewhere else and knife someone else instead. (At least if you are a gallente scout with lvl 3 in nova knives )
It's ok to let some reds get away (temporarily, I fully expect you to knife the next time you see them) when you are either low on stamina or out of cover, speaking of which what exactly are you doing out of cover? Get back in cover NAOW!
Oh and remember: Sprint->Jump->Charge!
I hope that helps and I can safely say that I would have done a lot better if I had followed all those things instead of trying to knife everything that moved. (including team mates in faction warfare XD)

Good thing i'm not using Proto Knives then! There really isn't much options with the Basic Knives. Most of mine are by stalking someone and getting them while hacking. I have engaged foes straight on and get a few. But at 90 damage a hit, it is pretty hard. Usually land 3-4 blows before the get me. Also knifing someone well they're fighting someone else works well!

I've had two memorable knife attacks over the last week. The first was on a ledge at the base of a tower. I spotted an uplink that was actively being used. I snuck up there and started killing guys that spawned in. A prototype Caldari Logi spawned in and spotted me finishing off his mates. We danced around for some time but I managed to land a charged attack and took him down. Nothing makes me happier than taking out prototype Caldari Logistics with a standard suit, especially one that is looking right at me.
The second one was on Line Harvest. The enemy held the CRU overlooking objective Alpha and we held the objective itself. They were using the wall overlooking Alpha for covering and firing down on my team. I ran along the wall, jumping, knifing and laughing my ass off as I killed three of them in quick succession, and managed to break their assault before another red spawned on the CRU and gunned me down.
I'm sure those encounters are nothing special to the professional knifers but they meant something to me.

Q-syncing 2 squads into a match and when it puts us on opposite teams; we all meet up in a location away from the objectives and organize a single-elimination tournament (1 on 1) knifing duels. The loser of each bracket is immediately eliminated and the winners stay on until the finals.
Its hilarious to watch and participate in until some blue dot gets an orbital to ruin our fun. So much fun though!

I think I had maybe one or two legit NK kills during the entire event haha. Just catching up to someone and hitting them with a charged up knife was next to impossible. Seems like it's a weapon that really requires impeccable ambush tactics. I'm struggling to see what the nova knife can do that a shotgun can't do better. Hell, even a scrambler pistol would be better with the headshot bonus it gets. |

Two enhanced damps so I don't show up on radar, basic blue bottle for extra kick, CR in case things go... south, REs for groups. I follow my targets until they stop moving and slice em or walk behind em with charged ZNs cause my walking speed is faster then theirs. Or I flank hard and fast and rush em. Sometimes you just gotta attack headon, they don't usually expect that or I loovvee stairs cause I can jump over them and knife em in the back, people don't look up. =]

I did have some fun during this event. In one rather slow macth I kept getting a scan fail message, and then I'd pull back into the open to get out of cornering opportunity for the scanner. After a few seconds, a Minnie scout (I don't remember the name, never seen them before) would go sprinting by on the way to someone he could see on the scan. I'd scurry along behind him, let him get almost on top of his would-be victim, then fill his suit with Toxin SMG goodness from behind. I did it about 5 times in a row, and I'm pretty sure I didn't make a friend.

I'm a horrible knifer. During this event I went into min scout with lvl 3 knives. I died a lot being overly eager. I'm pretty sure I ran at a few guys who gunned me down so fast and thought 'wtf was that one thinking'. I know, because I gunned down a few scouts running at me, and I empathized.
My two successful kills were someone hacking and someone across the field standing still, shooting at my guys. Other than that, REs have been winning for me. Multiple kills at objectives.

I once had two guys spawn on an objective I was covering. I knifed them. They spawned again, looking for me. I knifed them. They respawned. I knifed them.
... Then somebody in a PRO-Logisuit with a PRO-scanner spawned and killed my squishy scout. Booo.
I once dealt with an HMG heavy with the help of my AR. He was a lone, so ran up behind him and shot away 2/3 of his shields. I quickly covered before he got to turn around. Then I maneuvered around to his back again and brought him down to less than half armor, again with the AR. Next time I knifed him with uncharged slashes. |

and on a final note to all you corner campers get some skill.

We had redlined the enemy and we were patrolling the line. I came across 3 snipers all in a row. None of them knew we were there. I lined up my ASCR trying to go for a triple headshot when a scount with NK rushes up and 1-hits each of them. Hilarious to watch as the 1st died the other 2 were clueless. |

Yeah, mostly objectives, and snipers.
I ran into a really interesting varient of the sniper camp.
A big ol group of redberries were encamped on a hill. I think it was actually a mix of snipers, medium range, and logis or something.
Groups of blueberries were attempting to get them, and failing. It was really quite impressive to see: A well coordinated red squad, defending an area that was relatively out in the OPEN. Our team's clone count was spiralling down, and theirs was staying pretty much constant. Mini-squads of blueberries (groups of 3 or 4) were attempting to rush the hill, and failing.
But... I managed to get behind them, and surgically apply some steel. Most of them were crouched, sniper style, right? So..
1, 2, 3, 4
and I got a 5th one who was moving around before I think a respawn took me down.
After that, the unwashed blue masses swarmed the now mostly empty hill, and the opposing team never recovered
PS: to those people deriding "corner campers"... if you've never tried it yourself, you may not realize that it actually requires some amount of skill. Being able to swipe a moving target as it comes around a corner, while you hold a charge (so you cant sprint), actually takes a decent amount of timing. |
