While I still believe damage bonuses are not a good bonus for the Commanos (thread here with alternate suggestion), if they are they need to retweak how the bonus applies. Currently, the following commandos have the bonus to the following weapons,
Amarr: Scrambler Rifle, Laser Rifle Minmatar: Combat Rifle, Mass Driver, Swarm Launcher (a Caldari weapon) Caldari: Rail Gun, Sniper Rifle Gallente: Assault Rifle
The Minmatar get a bonus towards a Caldari weapon because technically swarm launchers are explosives. Meanwhile, the Gallente commando gets no bonuses towards plasma cannons or shotguns because, even though they are both plasma weapons, neither are plasma - blaster.
Would it not be better if the racial bonuses were,
Amarr: 2% damage to Amarr weapons per level Minmatar: 2% damage to Minmatar weapons per level Caldari: 2% damage to Caldari weapons per level Gallente: 2% damage to Gallente weapons per level
This is essentially the same thing but more appropriately associates weapons with the proper suit and doesn't leave any weapons behind.

+1, get your damn dirty minmatar hands off my swarm launcher. One quick thing to add, caldari and gallente shouldbe bonused towards alk hybrid weapons, so the caldari commando would be bonused for the Ar,, shotgun etc. and vice versa for the gallente commando.

Are you serious? The current planned Gallente bonus makes the PLC slightly useful while your explanation doesn't even make sense as it is false lore wise and just seems as a way the hurt the already bad PLC.

CCP has mentioned that the PLC is being looked at. The weapon needs a rework, not some -suit related bonus that does nothing to FIX the weapon.
Never mind that the bonus proposed here actually benefits the "already bad PLC." |

What are you talking about? The current planned Gallente Commando bonus does not cover the PLC, so it makes it no more useful than what it already is. Meanwhile, if they changed the bonus to how I described it, the PLC would be 10% stronger in the hands of a Gallente Commando.

I'm pretty sure the plasma cannon and shotgun do get counted as "blaster", even if they aren't really blasters in lore (which I don't know if they aren't, maybe they are). The swarm launcher thing is pretty odd though. Too bad there isn't a "missile" category to keep Minmatar and Caldari tech separate for easy categorization.
Race and damage type really should be in weapon attributes.

Swarm Launchers are manufactured by Caldari corporations, not Minmatar corporations. That's why we have Wirykomi Swarm Launchers instead of Boundless Swarm Launchers, for example.

Amarr black ops bombers use missiles and bombs in EVE. Noone fits lasers on them.
I think that there should be more versatile bonus for commandos. Rail bonus for caldari is not good enough. I agree that caldari and gallente should get a bonus to hybrid weaponry. Some pilots run blaster caldari ships in EVE. Front man for dust 514 is caldari assault with a blaster rifle.
Finally: All commandos should get a bonus to swarm launchers! There are roles in EVE, such as the stealth bomber ships with bonuses to missile launchers. Swarm launcher is a missile launcher, and it does not matter really who manufactured it.

Maybe you misunderstood the OP.
If OP is right, that means Plasma Cannons aren't currently tagged as Hybrid - Plasma weapons, and then they wouldn't get any benefit from the Gallente Commando bonus. If the PLC tag was fixed, that would solve the problem. OPs suggestion solves the problem. There's nothing wrong lore wise with OPs suggestion.
I do agree that Caldari and Gallente both should get bonuses to all Hybrid weapons (like in EVE) with differences in style i.e. a Hybrid Damage bonus (Gallente) vs. a Hybrid Range bonus (Caldari).
As for Minmatar getting bonuses to explosive weapons, and the swarm launcher being Caldari, CCP should split weapon types and damage types and do them like they do in EVE. I've got some ideas for weapon types and damage types in DUST being like they are in EVEn.
Weapon types would be Energy, Hybrid, and Projectile weapons, and Explosive weapons would be replaced with Missiles (Currently the handheld missile launchers are Swarm Launchers and Flaylocks).
Damage types would be EM, Thermal, Kinetic, and Explosive.
Numbers could be balanced so that overall weapon damage to shield and armor stays the same, but CCP would have more leeway and room for nerfs / buffs, and changes in general. Doing it the way they do in EVE, Minmatar could get a bonus to missile damage, (Swarm and Flaylock) or Explosive damage (Swarms or Flaylock loaded with explosive type ammo.)
Hint: This also paves the way for damage type specific missiles.

Also, the minmatar bonus to explosives makes sense a they use explosives. I'd change the Caldari bonus to affect both hybrid rails and explosive weapons.

And the general Bonus of commando which is "2% reload" needs to be changed. This bonus is TOTALLY useless for Amarr weapons which almost never reload. |

1. It's a 5% reduction to reload time, not 2%. 2. Laser turrets may not need to be reloaded often in eve. But, in dust, laser weapons need to be reloaded quite often.
