So I don't know how many of you are familiar with EVE Online. Or for that matter, if you even care but I feel as though I should bring something to your attention.
In EVE Online - Amarr roleplayers generally go by the alliance name of CVA (Curatores Veritatis Alliance)
The rest of the community general calls them; Scrubs, LOL RP-ers and a manner of other unwelcome names.
In DUST however the last few months I have noticed that its cool to be an Amarr RP-er. Or if not an RPer then its very fashionable to be an Amarr loyalist.
Why is this I wonder? |

This is due partly because another strongly established Amarr role play corp EVE side, Praetoria Imperialis Excubitoris, aka PIE Inc, has stretched its arms out to Dust. True Adamance, myself, Maikyl Metsar, and some others have joined PIE and become very vocal on the forums. Particularly, we are all very familiar with the lore of New Eden and have our counter arguments prepared for every negative accusation one could make against the Amarr.
Additionally, there are many other players not associated with the alliance who are also very vocal and know their lore very well. Personally, the Amarr are the most interesting and possibly one of the easiest races to defend because most the accusations you get are very ill-thought out by people who simply cry "slavery" without any deeper understanding of Amarr or New Eden in general.

The responses were better than I expected.
I love the fact you guys get so behind the races in DUST. I have to admit though, I came from playing EVE Online for about 4 years. In EVE after you have been playing that long you realise ALL races are important and you train into each and everyone of them.
People say - "A jack of all trades or a master of one" Well in EVE it doesn't quite work like that. I guess the analogy can be more akin to ship types than racial flavour. As such I LOVE CalAmarrGalMatar!
Edit - Though If I HAD to pick I would be a Caldari loyalist as I value efficiency in life. Plus you gotta love the under dog! So that would make me an Ally of the wretched Amarr hummm, a precarious situation indeed. |

Interesting. I remember a few years ago when the illustrious Pandemic Legion would run Amarr Zealot gangs to great effect. I learnt very hard and very fast as a noob that bigger does not mean better as I died in my brick tanked, double doomsday tanked Rokh or Megathron.
I assume you realise the dificulties in EVE sticking with one race for fleet battles? You do have the Abbadon though, and my favourite ship of all - the Archon! Mmm MMmm. |

I love the fact you can do things like this in eve. So many random items and bits and bobs that are meaningless in the game generally but can be used in such a way as this. Like your example of storage cans full of slaves. Muhaha! |

While I am a member of PIE, I am exclusive to the Dust side of things. I have not actually played EVE, so have no first hand knowledge. However, I talk with my EVE corp mates (well, it's technically an alliance but in lore we just call it one big corp with branches) quite a lot and they have indeed told me the difficulties of running exclusively one faction's hulls. But again, role playing and supporting Amarr is what we do, so we embrace the challenges to make it work.
We hold up the same ideals Dust side as well, only using Amarr dropsuits (except for light frames currently) and once the vehicles come out we will only run Amarr versions as well. Not quite the same level of difficulties, but it is still present to some degree. Especially when the enemy knows all of us are going to be armor tanking so they bring out the combat rifles, mass drivers, locus grenades, and such.

Cool. I didn't know that but its good to hear. And that right there is what makes this game better than most FPS`s - Even if we all play a beta game.
I just want to say one thing - in EVE you have Carriers. Much like todays aircraft carries. It is generally considered that the Ammarian Archon is one of the best if not the best carrier going. Very tough with huge bonuses to repair and energy transfer ranges. Whilst also having innate resist bonuses.
Also the laser rifle in DUST is the weapon most similar to the Amarr weapons of choice up in space in EVE.
Now check this cool little thing - Imagine being able to swap out the laser crystal at will (The ammo type if you will) so you are able to go from short range high damage beams to a longer range , less damaging but more sustained crystal or ammo type.
Having this ability in dust for the Laser Rifle would be so sweet. I want my Conflaguration ammo for close range and my Scorch for long range please CCP.

It's odd to find it in this game. It's sad to see too many non-RPers in EVE. I'm not talking about that in character crap either. I mean the good old D&D kind where you simply have an idea about your character and define them accordingly.
Funny too about in character RP. The game that started that kind of LARP style play was the very game which CCP is now developing into an MMO.
The statement the OP made regarding ppl not knowing about EVE makes CCP's efforts with this game even sadder. Ppl playing this game should d*mn well know what EVE is. The link would have helped do that. It's now just another independent FPS.
Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I read your book!

Well scrambler rifles too are pulse lasers, which are also heavily used in EVE by the Amarr. Though to be clear, PIE may have a preference to lasers but we use all turret types, the only restriction is hulls. Same goes with Dust, can use any weapon but must use Amarr dropsuits/vehicles, though I run almost exclusively scrambler rifle, scrambler pistol, and laser rifle anyways.
I do very much like the idea of swapping out crystals, but this would probably have to be in the form of weapon variants, and only selecting one "crystal" type per fit. Just based around the way CCP has Dust set up, allowing to swap crystals on the fly would be too powerful of an ability relatively speaking. Of course, if they change it so other weapons can also switch firing modes on the fly (like say an Assault rifle can switch to full auto, breach, burst, and single shot firing modes all on the fly) then it could work.

Fair enough. The specific guardsman for the event aren't just any old folk though, they are extremely loyal to their respective factions so I'm not sure if the details would spread, and even then none of them were in position to hear what was being spoken, just that their was a meeting. Nonetheless it is a possibility, though it'd probably be nothing more than rumors.
I've spoken about this general concept with other people who enjoy role playing (even if just to a small degree). It would be really nice if CCP only revealed this information in the form of a news report so we can then reference all these articles properly in character.

I'm not an Amarr RPer myself, but I do roleplay in quite a unique position, focusing on the struggles of a single bloodline rather than general FW alignment RP. I just get more enjoyment out of my games when I can think how my character's life would work in it and what kind of relations he would have.
But on the topic, as people said the active Amarr roleplayers are also vocal on the forums, and they can argue their points very well. Also the fact that pretty much the only Amarr FW corps also do RP
