We all know tank spam is an issue. So how about this. Limit a tanker to one a game. He loses that and he can't call in another.
Non assault dropships can be called in as many times as they want. Assault ships on the other hand are limited to 1.
Lav's can be called in as many times as they want.
This means that if your team works hard to eliminate tanks, the threat can not be instantly back.
Minmatar Assault.

Better balanced Infantry vs Vehicle games (ie BF3,4) add a spawn limit on the vehicles (only so many at one time) and a spawn timer (only after x amount of time from the last one to be destroyed is another one available). Our issues here could benefit from appropriate variations of these sorts of additions.

Artificial limits are not the way to fix vehicles. Whether that's the number a single person can call down or the number on the field at any given moment. They're only going to be balanced when they're more specialized, so that there are a lot more people who would rather do something else.
This is also why nerfing militia tanks alone isn't going to stop the spam. Having to spend SP didn't stop the Caldari logi spam. People have to be more interested in doing something else than they are in whatever they're spamming.

Have you played a PC match lately? Tanks do not win PC's...otherwise you would see six tanks per team.

We do actually already have "artificial limits" on vehicle totals, I get the "No, your team has too many" response when I try to call an LAV at the start of the match pretty often. So the proposal would, made context appropriate of course, really wouldn't be more than a little tweaking of what already exists for vehicle totals, just type and time specific. No outright nerfing or buffing, just an appropriate burnzone limit.

Ideally even this artificial limit should be removed.
The real limit should be effectiveness. Too many of one role means your team is at a disadvantage. That will happen when each role becomes both distinct and necessary for victory. Right now the only role you need is that of slayer and the chief attribute is DPS. That's a big part of why we have a FoTM. There's only one thing to chase, DPS. |
