You unlock both at the same time......so that should eliminate choosing....
I use incubus if I'm going to be floating around the fire zone for a bit and basically just floating there
Python to pi$$ off tanks/jeeps.....and redline snipers

Incubus is more durable. Python can take advantage of a higher ROF for your missile launcher.

I've seen a lot of Inchubi floating around of their greater stability and the ability to fit an afterburner without sacrificing much tank.
I personally use the python because there is nothing like swooping in out of nowhere and unloading sixteen missiles into an unsuspecting group of infantry before anyone can retaliate. Not to mention the shear number of missiles a python can carry is ridicules

the incubus is the av master. a python can take care of a tank with patience, but an incubus can use the railgun to tear through the enemy armor... and pythons :(

You unlock both at the same time, but I'd say Incubus is better simply because the shields act as an indicator warning to put your hardeners on, while for the Python you need to put your hardeners on while simultaneously activating a shield booster so you have something for your hardeners to, you know, harden.

I would say go Python all day every day though, you really can't beat the utility of super missiles, and the added agility is a huge boon once you get attuned to your bird.

It ultimately comes down to which pilot suit do you want when they come out. Lol, that's part of it to me.
Shield DS though is better to rely on speed with the afterburner. So, you can get away with mil mods. Build up armor for the armor DS to be able to linger around an area.
Also, CRU and scanners work better while on an armor DS and not cramp your defense slots.

I recommend the incubus just because of the armor. Most people like shields as a safety net but if they go down your screwed. My incubus fitting is this weapon: advanced or proto rocket launcher 1 low slots 120 armor advanced armor hardener and a pg upgrade. High slot is a scanner so you know what will screw you over and get some points. Also.when you get hit by a forge or something similar use the momentum to escape and activate your armor hardener. If you get good with the rocket launcher you can get quite a few kills my last game I got 7/0 only with the rocket launcher. Oh and for tanks go rail or have someone flux grenade him the shields are your dropships second greatest enemy. Rail gun installatoons will do the most damage to you |

I like they Python for it's ascetics mostly (can't stand flying that "bathtub" of a dropship).
Both are very viable.
Python: Fast regen of shields and shield mods, very good active mods (though the shield booster is a bit bugged), bonus for missile rof is very good (the only really viable turret for ADSs). Problems are it loses tank for afterburners, the shield hardeners must catch high-alfa damage in order to be useful, and they typically lose to an Incubus with rails (very rare, though).
Incubus: Tankier, can use hardeners after initial hit thanks to shield buffer, more utility (scanner, AB, damage mod in highs), rails can be pretty devastating if you're good with them, good rep fits available. It doesn't get the missile bonus and it looks atrocious, I've never flown one so I can't really give better advice from experience.

The bonus applies to all hybrid weapons.

The Python, while fast moving and quick hitting, takes a lot more skill and experience to be able ot use efficiently, not to mention the cost of losing dropshi[s in your learning curve. The Incubus is pretty durable, easier to handle and a much easier learning curve with assault dropships. Which has a flying feel completely different than support dropships

I prefer the incubus. The afterburner is so important to keep an ads alive and putting one on the python gimps it too much. Plus with the armor tank, the first shoot that his you is your warning to through on the hardener and prepare to gtfo.
While the rof bonus is nice on the python, staying alive is more important.
