With the introduction of the Gallente Ion Pistol being more than capable of taking down enemies with it's dual firing mode AND the addition to Gallente suits getting a built in armor repair (focusing on repair over armor is lore correct, thank you CCP for that change) we are one addition away from being the OP master race.
Wait until we get drones and sentry guns, just wait. It will be a glorious day to rock Gallente!
I'm just so giddy with joy I had to make a pointless thread about it, I apologize for the clutter.
Gallente suits have come so far from being absolute ****, to what they are becoming....being here since E3 build, it brings a tear to this old veterans eye.
Caldari 514 is now officially a thing of the past.... |

Ion pistol will have a charge shot in addition to regular fire mode. The charge is quite powerful, with two SADMs it can output somewhere around 530 damage for the charge.

It is a rapid fire pistol as well a devastating charge shot weapon (like the Scrambler).

It's not without it's drawback though, requiring a long cool down time for the charge shot. |

Didn't they already say that pvp drones were not going to happen due to hardware/software limitations?
Sentry guns as a deployable Eq would be cool, but arn't we supposed to be getting droppable turrets (small/medium/large) as callable support through off map support?

No time in the near future for drones no, but in the future when the game ports for PS4 we might finally get them.

Most likely not, having the repair tool bonus is already a good enough bonus already on top of the native armor regain.
Level 5 armor repair on a scout suit with a complex repair tool will yield 9.25 armor repair per second.
Let's just let that sink in.

As much as I hate it, ill have no choice but to go gallente assault since it's the obvious clear choice for the best assault suit....900 ehp and 2-3 damage mods with built in rep is too good to pass up.

I think we are, they have been small turrets in the past so they should come back.
Sentry guns would allow for protection in an area without the using a an extra player to guard a post.
I can only imagine a Logistics suit and a Sentry gun holding down Bravo in Line Harvest.

From what I understand they are changing damage modifiers quite a bit.

That bonus Minmatar get to Damage modifiers though I feel is being overlooked by a lot of people.
With the speed, damage, rof of The Minmatar they'll finally live up to their lore.
1.8 will be an exciting time.
All the Assaults seem pretty Balanced except for the Amarr but that could be rearranged easily if it hasn't already been. |

you are giving up 15% total EHP over the gallente suits for a meager ~7-8% more speed, not to mention that a gallente suit with a kincat is as fast as a minmatar suit but still has more EHP.

Same, now I haven't wasted SP on suits but I'd gladly take back the SP I was "coaxed" to spend on SMG skills. And since the Gallente assault will no longer get a CPU/PG reduction for all hybrid weapons I have no further use for the Rail Rifle.
I'm quite sure the'll refund our Infantry skills like they did vehicles.
They are changing far too much and adding a whole lot (some being the most basic of things) to not have a refund of infantry skills. |

If they keep the bonus's previewed on SISI though Min will be also getting extra damage (can't remember the number) and increased ROF, more damage and increased ROF on a weapon with already high ROF would be pretty impressive.

why can't all the minmatar suit keep the native 1hp/sec armor rep, i'm ok with the gal scout getting a 3 hp one, i just wish my assault, logi and scout keep our 1hp thing, we're pretty squishy after all

You are totally overestimating the power of the Gallente Assault.
What you described right there is a Gallente Logi, Assault can only dream about that
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

With the speed, damage, rof of The Minmatar they'll finally live up to their lore. 1.8 will be an exciting time. All the Assaults seem pretty Balanced except for the Amarr but that could be rearranged easily if it hasn't already been.

I didn't have the scout suits in mind when making that comment. The scout is still a largely unfinished class even in 1.8 so I'm not making any decisions on it.
The assaults however seem to be getting rounded out perfectly and that's what I was talking about.
Next will be logistics when they get around to infantry again.
Then scouts and/or heavies in a very distant future. |
