I think we should be clear that this is not a victim-less action. When you AFK you are not improving the match you are in. I think it can be said unequivocally that you are harming it. Do you think any new players are having their experience of the game made more or less positive by your actions? How about those who can only play a few games a night as they have many commitments? That short play window they have is disrupted by one sided matches often made possible by one team having 16 players on the field and the other 10, with 6 in the MCC. Because you want ISK but do not want to play the game as it is currently to gain this ISK does not mean you should feel justified in your actions. We may need other ways to get ISK, but that does not justify you making the game less enjoyable for others so you can get what you want. When you AFK you spoil the game for those who enjoy it. You may hate pubs, or find justified frustration with the issues the game has but some players do not feel that way. There are issues with match making, lag and so on and these things make a game less enjoyable and need to be addressed but you have to realize that AFKing is also one of the issues in that same list. However all I ask it that you consider that a real person is behind the blue dots on your radar and your actions, or lack of, cause a reduction in enjoyment for them. We do need to fix pubs, to make them enjoyable for the majority or to provide alternatives. But don't use the lack of content or the number of game flaws to pass off actions that cause harm to pubs as justified. You reasons may be sound but the action they invoke is negative. If FW, which is the same maps and modes, can engage then the elements that make it so could perhaps move to pubs thus making them engaging. You mention that it is that they matter. Perhaps Pubs could be made to matter to. An EVE link of some sort, or perhaps a link to FW even. I ask because until the player base is expanded we risk splitting the players into so many segments that it all falls apart. As a side note Scalesdini almost made it to Godwins law... almost.
