If you are new to Dust 514 and also never heard of Eve Online nor played Eve Online, here is a quick dose of what to expect.
Crime & Punishment
That's basically how Eve Online is. Since Dust 514 is directly connected to Eve Online as made apparent by the chat channels and faction warfare, you should expect the same level of douchebaggery here in Dust. Why? Because the following actions are perfectly legal and you can do them too without facing CCP's wrath:
1. Setup ISK scams. 2. Create elaborate ponzi schemes. 3. Rob your corporation and its members. 4. Spy on your corporation for another corp. 5. Manipulate the secondary market (when it comes) just like how the Goons did back in 2012. 6. Ransom a player. 7. Extort a player. 8. Go crazy with the meta-gaming. 9. Did I mention "burn the economy" (when it comes)?
I can go on all day but this is all you need to know. This is the kind of stuff that has made the MMO known as Eve Online famous (or infamous if you like) for the past 10 years and now the first-person shooter genre is about to get a rude wake up call with Dust.
Welcome to New Eden.
PS: We should have our own "Crime & Punishment" section.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

Eve also has miners, industrialists, researchers and other assorted Care Bears in High Sec protected by Concord.
Dust has none of these, no NPC pirates just stompers.

I'm sorry.... I'm a miner in Eve Online and I beg to differ. Concord can't protect you very well against the best gankers.

How often do you get ganked in high sec?
As a mater of best practice you should always be aligned to jump to your station or safe zone. And you should maintain best practice discipline in High Sec so you don't slip in Low.
Ganked in high sec is like getting killed by a plasma cannon. Can happen, but you have to give them the oppoutunity first.

I get ganked every blue moon or two, but they are common to see. Gankers just learn to avoid me because I happen to make their gank attempts a bit expensive. Unlike many miner scrubs, I don't sacrifice tank for more ore yield.

Once in a blue moon is not the frequency of dedicated ambush stomping squads.
If it was dust would have a much larger player base...

I don't think there is near the amount of scamming and stealing going on in Dust as there is in EVE. So a crime and punishment section would not get enough attention.

That was just for me. Don't forget I'm not the only miner who is targeted. There is at least a few ganks happening somewhere in the galaxy every day. You just hardly hear about them. Kind of like that real world statistic about how many crimes actually get reported compared to how many actually happen.

Yes but a couple of ganks a day over a large player base is not the same as multiple proto stomps per day for a new player.
It would be like getting your mining frigate destroyed every second mining run in high sec to be a comparable rate.
