*Amidst the halls and chambers of the Amarran Cathedral of The Stayed Sword at the IGS, one chamber is reserved for use by the adherents of the Atash Amarr fire temple. It is a round room, with elegantly carved stonework along its walls. These carvings are then inlaid with gold to reflect back the room's only source of light. For in the center, low to the ground, is a bowl-like altar bearing a flame. It's light dances along the walls, illuminating the craftsmanship with fiery hues. Sitting crosslegged before the fire, on one of many pillows scattered about the chamber, is Palatinus Metsar wearing tan robes traced in gold and silver embroidery. Beside him is a floor table with scattered parchments of copied manuscripts. He beckons you to sit anywhere.*
This area is for the telling and discussion of Amarran scripture. Every Wednesday I will offer up a new excerpt from the scriptures which will be the subject of discussion, debate, and elaboration throughout the week. I ask each of you to treat this with respect.
"Welcome, for our first session I have decided to read from the teachings of Saint Junip, and in particular a verse from a story related to us about two brothers; Zakara and Garum. *clears throat* verse 10:25 reads...
"Zakara saw the danger to his brother, and did not hesitate; without weapon or armor, he hurled himself at the beast, attacking with his bare hands. Enraged, the beast turned and struck Zakara, opening a terrible wound in his side. Seizing the moment, Garum ran his sword through the beast's heart, thus ending the battle victorious. But Zakara, mortally wounded, cried out in pain. You sacrificed yourself for me,' Garum said, taking his hand.
"We are brothers,' Zakara answered, just before breathing his last. 'And in God we shall remain brothers for all of time."
Now I feel that there are some interesting points to this situation that I'll reveal as our discussion progresses. For now, could anyone tell me their thoughts on the significance of this passage?" |

"Those are both excellent observations. Indeed under the Almighty we are all united in purpose as a family. And sacrifice is sometimes necessary to protect those we cherish. In this spirit of selfless sacrifice do we display the true nature of our humanity. I have always found it interesting in this verse that Garum is armed with a sword while Zakara is unarmed. We know so little about these two brothers that I sometimes ponder on the meaning of this. Was Zakara markedly younger than Garum? Or had he lost his weapon early in the conflict? Perhaps he was not even a warrior by trade. " |

"It is true that by our nature we cannot truly make death a sacrifice. Unless you view your initial translation into an immortal as your death, then it is that you have sacrificed. But we can instead give unto our God an eternal servant in this world. Someone who is neither truly living or dead, for both are states that we are in constant transition. We are no longer men as Zakara was... Nor are we angelic beings like the sefrim of old. We are something new, in my opinion caught between those two states. Perhaps the Almighty has something in store for us a thousand millennia from now, some new existence. But for now I awaken in each new body, feel it breathe for the first time, and look through fresh eyes... Devoting that body's life--no matter how brief--to Him." |

" if anything we shall be judged more harsh due to our unnatural long life spans, thus we must be more disciplined then a common mortal for if we fall we could fall for lifetimes"
Steady quickly shuts up clearly uncomfortable at such a gathering
The Palatinus looks over at Steady.
"That is a very valid point. By the nature of our extended existences, should we fall from God's light we could end up wallowing amidst heresy and heathenism for untold generations. Who is more wicked? He who lived a life of sin, or he who live ten thousand such?" |

"Worry not, all are welcome to approach this flame." Speaks Metsar, gesturing to the fire filled basin near him in the room's center "And while in its light, all may speak and hear God's truth. Tell me, do you have any thoughts on something we've discussed? Or perhaps a word or query on the verse of scripture." |

"All souls are precious to God's dominion. Being Gallentean affects not your soul, but your place in society. His is an order of hierarchy, with each serving one higher. It is through this sacred mandate that we have found stability throughout thousands of years. And God judges our place in society by our piety, and the length of service a people give to the glory of His empire. It is thus that the Amarr are the chosen of God, for long has the faith burned within our people's hearts. And thus it is we who administer over the other races of men, to guide them through the path our kin have long traveled. But if you look unto the Almighty with faith and a humble spirit, His light shall be upon regardless of the blood flowing in your veins." |

The Palatinus sifts through the parchments on his desk and pulls out a specific sheet, quickly skimming over its contents. With a nod of approval he addresses those present.
"It is now the second week of our meetings, and for this session's topic I'd like to read from the Book of Trials, verses 2:13 to 2:21. I find this selection to be of particular importance to the warriors of Amarr, and to the adherents of the fire temple."
"So instructed the Queen to her champion, GÇÿBeware the righteous who seek truth in spirit alone; The weak of mind are quick to judge with slightest tempt; Thus fools go forth to spread false word, Great misery follows those who heed what only the weak have heard. Heed me champion, for only you shall know; Within the blue ring of fire lies the final key of revelation. Find this ring, my champion, and both mind and spirit shall be strong once more."
"It is a far deeper verse than that related by Saint Junip last week, but what are your thoughts nonetheless?"
