Without shield reppers it will not be as strong as armor buffer heavies when it comes to using heavies as point defense with logi support.
In situations that don't call for logi support shield heavies might be nice.

65 HPs is less than half of even the weakest weapon's DPS. On the other hand, the Gallente could tank Armor Reps for ~90 HPs without delay, and still fit Damage or Shield Mods.

Caldari will be a scary AV monster, Gallente will be the infantry-eater. TBH, I can see the Amarr fading into obscurity whilst the MInmatar will offer much different, wild fun but overall be underwhelming.
I personally, will be using the Gallente fat-man.

Why dont we have shield repair tools? We have armour repair and in EVE online there is a big emphasis on shield tanking and shield logistics (Read this as shield repair) vs Armour tanking and armour remote repairs.
I say we start to campaign for shield repair tools. |

It depends heavily on what the its shield delay is. The Caldari Heavy won't get the same benefit out of repair tools as every other heavy, so if it takes more than one second for the Caldari Heavy's shields to start regenerating I'd say it won't last long in any fight.

Depends on base armor HP.
Would be pointless to have 800 shields if you only have 200 armor, you'd be at a flux mercy, and with those AoE's it would be too easy to get at us, we'd need to put our low slot a Kats so we can just hopefully blitz everything to death.

Yes. I told the guys in DDB once the new heavys come out to run flux and put these Shield heavys to shame. Shield based heavys are very nice but if one person runs flux its game over for that heavy. Unless it has over 1200 shields then ill have to bring out ADV or PRO flux.

No, for PC, the game mode that matters, most people run flux. So one flux invalidates the heavy wheres an Armor or Hybrid Tanked heavy would still stand a chance. Basic Flux has a Blast Radius of 6m and heavies are too slow to sprint out of a well cooked nade
The most effective Heavy suit will be the Gallent for Defending and the Minni for attacking.
Judging by current suits, the Min Heavy will have High slot focused layout, likely 4 high and two low and the Gallent will have 4 low and two high.
I'm going by the fact that the Amarr suits have one less slot that most but with higher Base HP every other heavy suit will have lower base HP but one or more slots than the amarr.
Shield Heavies will be good for Lone wolf Heavies. |

Well, the new Sentinel bonuses imply that Sentinels will resist any sort of splash damage, which means Flux grenades would do less than normal to all Sentinels, Caldari included.

Shields Logistics are SOONtm. If there is a repair for shields it should be a shield transfer like the vehicle module.

I see the. Aldari commando being the big hitter of the caldari suits. Being slightly faster and its multi purpose ability I see it being a great hit hard and run ski, stacking damage mods, and shields since its more mobile.
Also on the note of damage mods I think we just need variations. I'll be starting a thread regarding this.

well... the new supposed heavy bonuses reduce blast damage by 25%. which is going to be on top of natural shield resistance to explosive damage which is 20% so locust grenades and mass drivers might be next to useless against them off the bat.
then a major 15% resist against blasters and minor 10% resist against lasers with a natural 5% resist against projectiles...
get your shield hp up and put some effort into your shield recharge rate and the only logi support youll need will be either a needle, or more likely... ammo |

I personally, will be using the Gallente fat-man. If you are facing an HMG, Combat Rifle, or SMG it would not hurt to be in an Amarr suit. It also has a nice balance of Armor and Shields. Good against other HMG Heavies. Not as susceptible to Flux as the Caldari Heavy, due to having decent Armor. Also has up to 10% resistance to Shotguns.
Amarr Heavies will continue to hate the Rail Rifle though, so will have to avoid large open spaces.

Racial bonuses will be the big question and make the roles, maybe they will give caldari heavies bonus to reactive plates and give them the lows.

One could stack damage mods and play it like a traditional Heavy still.
Shield stacking will just see the use of Flux as a counter and maybe more PLC use.
I personally would stack Shield Regulators and Extenders(maybe 1 recharger) and treat it like a true Shield Tanker. Just leave me a nanohive and Im set.
But most will stack damage mods and continue to use rail rilfes...
