But - we don't want to rush and push something out the door if it's not ready. It might take a while, but when we do release it we want to be satisfied with where it's at.
This was the last we have heard from CCP regarding PvE content. Draxus Prime was kind enough to condense what we know about PvE so far into one thread, linky.
PvE has the potential to not only boost the satisfaction of current players, but draw in new players. It is key to the long term health of Dust 514.
So, what about it? Other than a post stating you would love to do it, can we learn anything about your PvE plans? Or are they so far in the future they haven't even been settled on yet?

Aikuchi Tomaru wrote:Because that was the last thing we heard regarding the development of PvE: That CCP isn't working on it anymore at the moment. I sorely hope this isn't the case. I know that Dust has other "pain points" that need to be addressed first, such as racial dropsuit parity, but I would hate to think such an important feature has been put on ice.
iceyburnz wrote:"other things to do" (OTTD) is something sorely lacking in dust. Until there are OTTD dust will feel like a striped down multiplayer experience for a single player game that has not yet been released. OTTD is a good way of putting it. I can play the three gamemodes we have so many times before it becomes very dull. Even if another gamemode was added it would become stale quickly since you are always fighting the same thing: mercs like yourself. With PvE you are opening up the potential baddies to be drones, one of the pirate factions, Jove, carnivorous flora and fauna, the list goes on.

You make a point, but that doesn't mean CCP is not working on PvE. I'm requesting an update, not for them to drop what they are doing and work on PvE instead.

Kaze Eyrou wrote:I want to follow this thread and believe we'll get a response about PvE.... But at the same time, I can't help but believe Smooth Assassin's words are right.... Good luck Ripley Riley.
The only way it will ever get a response is if it can stay on the frontpage long enough for someone at CCP to notice... then maybe longer still for CCP to give it merit. Truthfully, I just want them to know we want PvE and are interested to hear more about it soon.

When I said, "the key to the long term health of Dust" I meant that variety, or as iceyburnz put it OTTD, is the key to the long term health of Dust.
I'll use Eve as an example since that is the MMO I have the most experience with. When I played Eve I would go through phases of being heavily involved in low sec PvP, corporation warfare, scanning, and planetary interaction. I even went through a short period of manufacturing/industry on my alt. I was able to switch things up as I got bored with one style of play.
Now what can we do in Dust 514? Well we have three gamemodes in public contracts. We have faction warefare, which is essentially public contracts but with a different reward mechanic and friendly fire. We have planetary conquest, which is restricted to large, skilled corporations... and also the same gameplay as public contracts.
Dust needs something else to do beside PvP; which is why I lean toward PvE because it in other games it seems to be well liked. Not to mention the current playerbase is getting restless. How many times can you play domination before you look to other games for your entertainment?

Is that what you mean? Or is there some special forum section for this?

This, right here, is something that many would consider extremely low hanging fruit.
Allow mercs to enter a 100m x 100m virtual room. At one end of the room area targets sized from small (medium dropsuit sized) to large (HAV or dropship). Against one wall is a resupply depot "console" that allows you to swap fittings. Your weapons never run out of ammo here, though the clips still need to be reloaded.
That's it! So many new players would use this to determine which weapons to spec into. Add this idea and MIL variants of every weapon and we are really improving the NPE.
