When CCP nerfed the logi suit back into its support role people demanded a respec and the rest of us laughed at them for wasting SP on an obviously broken mechanic.
What I'm getting at is, put your SP into what you want to do, not what is currently at the top of the metagame. If mass drivers, a weapon not seeing much use right now, are what you find interesting go ahead and invest SP there. They'll be rebalanced back into relevance eventually, and you can still have fun with them until then.
Plus even if you do throw SP into the current flavor of the month it's not like that SP is wasted. There's no cap on how much SP your character can have, so you can always get the suits and weapons you want later. Plus now you have whatever item you had before to use until then.
I skilled into GalLogi when Uprising dropped, for that nifty equipment fitting bonus. Time passed, armour got buffed, and it was the FotM. Scanners came out, everyone started fitting them. Now GalLogi's going to HAVE to use scanners or sacrifice its bonus. This isn't the role I skilled into. I skilled into a squad support role; someone who could effectively use nanohives. And rep tools. And needles. And uplinks.
I skilled into Amarr Assault because I'd been using the ScR for a long time, and, well, heat reduction. No more heat reduction. Not the role I skilled into - I skilled into something that would complement my gun. Otherwise I'd just have skilled into Gallente Assault for the theme.

This isn't comparable. These new suit bonuses are not rebalances, they're complete reworks. Tanks are still tanks and they got a respec. Speed Hackers will no longer be speed hackers.
Vehicle overhaul was far more extensive than bonus changes. And we've had bonus changes before with no respec - less significant ones to be sure, but changes nonetheless. I DO hope that an infantry respec will be given, but it's disingenuous to suggest that the bonus changes are comparable to the vehicle rework.
