But the thing is you should be able to destroy a tank with AV. Not another tank.

At a basic level all vehicles are weak. Even now a single proto swarmer can kill any tank in less than 6 volleys if hardeners or nitro isn't active. All of our modules are meant to give us a chance to survive against AV. 1 slot dedicated to killing vs 4+ dedicated to surviving. Adding in the grid management and core calibration skills to lower vulnerability, its 3 skills to kill vs 10 to survive. |

Yeah I agree with that but not nearly in the same way you could back in 1.6.
AV was too potent at the time to allow tanks to compete with 400m locking swarms and rapid firing forge guns....
AV could have its damages returned to normal to compensate I feel but not really any more or less will do.
Tanks in 1.6 were too cumbersome and expensive to be used effectively which is why you only saw dedicated and skilled tankers using them.
Now the opposite is true. There is no weight to tanks, nor SP requirement so all you see are poor infantrymen trying to farm kills out of rather powerful vehicle units.

Which is sad, extra health should be useful not useless, and if someone catches you when your hardeners are off it's a misjudgment on your part and you deserve to be killed.

Speed. Firepower. Blasters can handle all enemy types. Hardeners nullify all AV save rail cannons. Hardener scan be cycled for extended windows of invincibility. Third person view renders sneak attacks unviable. Cost of loss is negligible. Scanners on vehicles are crazy good.
From experience, one tank is workable, two is a real issue, more than that is carnage for the opposing team.

So it's a good job KDR doesn't bother me, really.

And how properly skilled do those infantry happen to be?
Have you been in many matches with one side fielding >1 tanks more than the other? You'd know, then, the likelihood of losing with superiority of armor (that's cheaper than most ADV infantry) is very small.

Don't pretend there's equivalence here. Infantry who go AV have to sacrifice a grenade slot or a light weapon slot or both. This means not killing other infantry in order to confront tanks, and not even one of these choices is enough to take down a tank.
Tankers sacrifice nothing: blasters kill infantry, railguns kill slightly less infantry, and both can fight other tanks better than any infantry.
Let's not even start to pretend like this is balanced. |

What you're saying is that any tanker whatsoever should get off scott free almost without regard for the other team.
Considering how fast tanks are, any situation-aware tanker should be able to get away before 3 opposing infantry get off 6 volleys combined. Now your team has sacrificed one (you) tanker for three swarmers. What do you think your other infantry are going to do to that team, now with a +2 advantage in AP infantry? What do you think will happen after the <60 seconds it'll take for the opposing AV infantry to die without any kills of their own, beckoning you to come back and continue the pointless slaughter? If you think that's balanced, you need to take some harder drugs to spin your head farther than the 180 degrees its already gone. |

Absolute crap? They spent as much as a proto suit- at least- and never expected to treat it with the same care that a squad might necessarily provide for any other proto suit?

I didn't say any such thing myself, having been killed by many-a tank turret, since clearly they weren't really useless before.
Now: I say that it is unbalanced.
Maybe MLT tanks have not nearly the risk/reward ratio of MLT infantry to consider, or maybe higher-level tanks are harder to kill than any reasonable assessment should allow, but either way, your comment sucks.

Once upon a time, I could crash a militia murder jeep trying to run me over with a couple AV grenades. BOOM, kill.
Now, the same jeep isn't likely to kill me, but I am sure not to blow them up as they might have been.
This doesn't tell the whole story about balance- I appreciate the readjustment regarding murderLAVs- but is isn't exactly like those fitting AV grenades changes as well with that update.
Now, those of us left to that end get stuck in out end out in the vast, unseeming DUST. |

Well AV is so severely lacking that tanks were made OP.
We need webifiers to slow these cheetahs down and emps to break through active mods. I don't know why AV was nerfed before any of these were released.

5-6 infantry that hug the tanks, but it only takes one to screw me over, the tank pilots lately are inattentive and lazy because of it but that one guy with an anti peeple gun kills me before I get done throwing all the charges on it.
Give mew two fluxes and one plasma cannon and I can down most shield tanks, 4-5 charges and starting his panic with a flux and plasma cannon shot is more than enough to finish him off.
This of course is me acting as solo AV. I still kill tanks solo with a forge gun, I still kill ADS with a forge gun (over confident pilots usually) Quick tip don't nail the dropship with an engine shot on the first forge shot, use it to soften the tank up without making the pilot totally freak out then go for the engine shot.

And how did one "abuse" AV back then? Every-time I tried to fire 400m away, the Swarms would crash into a wall.
Why use teamwork when HAVs don't require teamwork? Or when you get jack $#!t for doing it?

Because AV was out of control like Tanks are now.
Rendering issues were the worst aspect of it, and now are resolved, however Swarms should not have had a barrage capable of 400m lock ons, homing, 3 volleys in 6-9 seconds, and massive alpha against such slow and expensive vehicles.
