Now you can't hate someone for using good gear. It's pro gear. It's supposed to be ridiculous. But i do admit that there should be some sort of skill leveling system. For example the guy with one million SP verses the guy with twenty million SP.There should be a three way process to this or another battle tab with three experience levels to it. Kinda following the rookies, experienced and veterans theme. And if they're up for the challenge go back to the public contracts. But in doing this, once they pass say the rookie level of this new battle tab they would not be able to go back to that level. This being restricted to this particular battle tab. Here's something for a reference.
Rookie level: 500,000 SP to 5,000,000 SP
Experienced level 5,000,000 SP to 15,000,000 SP
Veterans level 15,000,000 and up.
I rarely post anything on the forums and i'm looking for opinions.

Limiting by SP like that is not a good idea. It's way better to just restrict matches to MLT only gear or ADV only and lower etc.
Plus add to the fact that after 6 months everyone is sorta a veteran, I wouldn't say 6 months is very "old".

Now there's an idea. This way you could see who's more creative in battle with the same level gear. In a way. |

Personally prefer the gear level restriction as well, though I guess if the hire tier so rounds offered more risk I will would mind. Just would hate to be forced to RU. Proto when j eventually get it considering I hardly touch y advance gear now.
I would also like to see an incentive for killing better equipped players. Either an risk or sp incentive anyways, those matches where my lil 3k suicidal scout goes 2/15 would be much sweeter if I got some kind of reward for managing to kill that 200k proto.
Maybe a chance to salvage the enemies gear ala factional? But make it kill specific so there is incentive to go after the enem I. Stead of sitting back and you profit from someone else's kill.I would feel much better if I died 5 times trying to kill a proto heavy but got a proto hmG out of the deal, especially once player market gets here. |

what about the "NOOB" with 4 mil sp in a single suit and weapon against the guy with 20 mil spread out and less sp in those same skills. sp only means you have been playing longer nothing else. its unfair to force balanced players to fight against single purpose players just because they have more sp

If Dust had more than 4000 players on at any one time then this might work. Cant even get a FW match without waiting 5 or 10 mins. |

I have the notion that we should not restrict mercs arbitrarily, however it would be lovely if CCP gave us the option in the battle finder to search by specific types. (PROTO battles only,, Advanced equipment maximum,, or even - Militia and standard gear only) Something along those lines. |

I understand that scotty is responsible for the terrible matchmaking we have. At the same time all proto level players know this, and actively search for the games modes that are likely to have the most inexperienced players. These kind of players use proto because they believe it to be easy mode (which it is). At least more players are earning proto gear, so thats getting better in a sense that with more proto players killing each other, more players are going broke, and can't afford to run it.
SP based matchmaking is the way to go.

You're right.
But the game has really low population is probably not making the cash it should. Every time a new player tries this game hes greeted right out the academy with guys who would rather pat themselves on the back with thier awesome skill propped up by pro gear than do whats best for the game as it stands at the moment.
Is it too much to ask that all us vets and beta players just calm down and pull back a little. Those who are awesome have proved it again and again, we know who the awesome guys are, and thank you awesome guys for all those challenges.
But come on, please, for the good of the game tone it down.
Im not saying we should abandon pro gear just that for the time being, chill out in public battles.

This idea has been brought up and kicked around a number of times CCP has yet to comment to my knowledge (admittedly I could wrong though). I agree completely w equipment specific battles, better equipment=better pay out.
As far as "proto stomping" goes, I get it you spent the time and you've got the money you want to show off that's fine. My only real issue is that people don't seem to realize it has to be wrecking an already terrible NPE. I mean you're new to the game there's no real walkthrough or explanation of anything and the first handful of battle you get dumped into your team gets steamrolled by a bunch of guys you can't even seem to dent, how long are you going to play for?.

Exactly.
Ive said before when I tried creating a new character, the fleeing you get when you leave the acdemy is not "Omg this game hard, I want to get better", the losses are so crushing, so deceptivly absolute it involves "Omg this game is hard, wtf am I playing it, why would I spend real money on items Im just going to lose to people who have a 1 year leg up on me" /uninstalls.

I've stuck around for 10 months now. Despite the fact that I considered 400 wp to be "a lot" in the first couple of months and despite getting killed way more often than I killed others.
I chose to adapt to my low skill level in the beginning and earn as many warpoints as possible. This meant having to try supporting my team and specialize in hacking objectives rather than try to kill enemies. Playing it smart like that paid off in the end. |

Speak for yourself. "Omg this game is hard, I want to get better" <-- Pretty much exactly how I reacted.
I like the fact that Dust isn't welcoming to everyone but appeals to only a certain kind of players, sort of like Eve does. It keeps out the immature and loudmouthed kids with insecurity-issues like the ones you often encounter in CoD -.- |

you probably could if you fought for a faction that everyone didn't. Since 1.7 dropped there has been a band wagon for minmatar gallente. If you take your squads into the other two factions you will experience almost no wait time.

And either CCP will fix the matchmaking and new player experience, or say **** it we ain't money shut this **** down.

The problem is it wasn't wasted. They squad up, field their good gear, and stomp. Most times they are just laughing and havin beers with their buddies. My main character can field proto gear forever. Most people don't even rise to the challenge. They switch to cheap suits and stay in the redline. I have a 47 k amarr assault which I use to fight if I am solo. even if I get stomped I take 15-20 of their proto suits with me. If I have a decent squad i'll shell out a few million isk so My homies can run proto with me. Isk isn't really a big deal. |

Proto years doesn't prove skill or indicate how much money was spend on the game. Pretty butt hurt if you the game to fail just to spite some players.

No. The last thing I would want is splitting players up. This would only make sure that you find less and less battles. Also: 600k SP into Handheld weapon upgrades and you have far less of a problem with proto players anymore.
