I usually wait until they're done hacking to set off enemy RE's though I don't wanna have to hack that **** myself. This is complete nonsense. If we both hack simultaneously then we both don't get shot. It makes zero sense to use some one as bait for no reason other than personal gain.
The red goes after the hacker, he goes after the red. The hacker might get shot if he's too slow, but he won't get shot, because he's behind the red.

Nothing you can do though... they should kill and get points defending you.

Letting a teammate, blueberry or not, die so you can get the hack is both redundant and selfish to do. Mainly for the fact that with your blueberry teammate dead, you expose yourself to other enemies killing you, especially the case when you're hacking enemy CRUs and null cannons, costing you possibly tens of thousands of ISK because you wanted a handful more points. Even dumb blueberries can act as a distraction for the enemy in the worst case, and covering them is usually going to help you and your team more in the long run.
Also, letting blueberries die so you can pad your KDR more by camping makes you a ****.

I will always let a blueberry die when he is hacking the CRU that i am farming. I'm sure i have done it at least 5 times today.

No. That's horrible.
If there's a boy hacking and no one else is around, I go get the hack assist.
If enemies are constantly spawning, and there's a blue hacking, I watch his back. Some times it works out, some times it doesn't. |

I got Minmatar Logistics up to lvl 5, systems hacking to lvl 4 and always use an enhanced codebreaker.
The likelyhood that a random blueberry hacker would hack faster than me is really small. And if I assist someone we can hack the objective in the blink of an eye and both defend ourselves from present reds.
Fellow min-logi here, that's pretty much my attitude as well. I can hack about twice as fast as everyone else so me covering while random hacks is rather silly. |

One problem though: except for FW, the game design promote selfishness since your isk payout and sp increase are purely based on the amount of warpoints you make. If I die, defending someone hacking I don't profit anything at all from it, but if I let the reds kill my ally hacking, then go successfully hack myself I profit more.
Doesn't even matter if my team wins or loses because in the end only the individual warpoints determine the rewards. |
