With all this talk about racial dropsuits and cloaks and Magsec Smg/Bolt pistol
Also with CCP/CPM saying stuff like
"It might not be called 1.8"
suggests there's a new expansion very soon

Considering it appears Uprising 1.8 will include- Three new heavy suits
- Two new light suits
- Redesigned skills for all suit specializations
- Cloak field
- Magsec SMG
- Bolt Pistol
- Ion Pistol
- Caldari Production Facility, containing 1 large socket, 2 medium sockets, and 4 small sockets
Surely it will be renamed as the next expansion. I mean Uprising came with 3 new dropsuits, 3 new weapons, 2 new equipments, 2 new maps, and 1 new game mode, where as this update would be coming with 5 new dropsuits, 3 new weapons, 1 new equipment, and 1 new infrastructure set, I don't see why they wouldn't rename it to something big.

CCP has a track record of using biblical adjectives as names like "Dominion" or "Uprising", which has no meaning towards the story or concept of the expansion itself. It's a bit like a "Fallout Boy" song, in the way that the words usually don't mean anything and the song has no point but the words sound cool when they are sung in that melody.
I believe we will see at least 2 more updates per CCP's promise in August to delivery "Rapid fire" updates, if CCP intends to hold true to their promise. Sorry, I actually giggled a pick trying to say that aloud. Honestly though, I feel like they might not because these "Rapid Fire" updates seem to have more time between them each time.
Fanfest is in April, enough time for 1 and maybe 2 updates for sure.

It may get called 1.8 just the thing is we're sorta ultra early into 1.8 people just got back from vacation I don't think we even had a proper plan in place yet.
However I will say this, the previous old road map may as well be officially declared over after this and a possible follow up patch.

I'm hoping for 2nd week of February, but March is more practical.
CCP said they have dev blogs planned for next week, so maybe we'll get more insight there.

why on earth would they do that? they would have to refund a lot of people a lot of aurum killing any chance of revenue from a lot of players for quite possibly years to come. and if they didnt a lot of people would walk away from this game. myself inculded id also ditch my 5 eve accounts. also ccp promised no more resets. so why the **** would they do as you ask?

I was betting scouts for 1.8 and heavies for 1.9, but kudos to you for the better guess.
Still, there is always the chance some of this may get pushed back at the last minute like the Caldari Production Facility right before 1.7 launch.

Expansion is a term used in subscription and pay-to-play games and essentially means a purchasable DLC. So, there won't be an expansion. There is gonna be more broken stuff like Bolt pistol. Yay! Can't wait for them new toys!
