Post a score on DUST 514 from 1-10 (10 being unbelievably good, 1 being it should be used as torture against serial killers).

I give it an 8
If played thoughtfully with reasonable squadmates, it really shines.
The confusing mass of constantly changing rules and realities makes the newbie experience maddening.
I got my hand around the pistol grip, and the safety's off.

When playing with friends it's tolerable
The fact that CCP forgot how the races work in EVE and decided to completely rework them in DUST is a fatal blow.

I'd imagine a 3 second interview would contain "you can spawn" 
Anyway I'd give it a 6 for now but 10 on potential.

Amazing and unique customization & deep potential.
Horrid balance, and CCP listening to the wrong arguments, and paying attention to the wrong (side of) problems.

Great customization and social aspect.

Pros:
If played with friends, its really fun. But so is any game.
Unprecedented customization.
ISK/Monetary system is unique for a shooter.
Great lore.
Cons:
Unfinished with slow progress and an ever changing set of developer goals.
Never Balanced. Ever.
High learning curve when compared to other shooters, and a horrific NPE.
Edit: Screw your rules.

High Points: Jumping out the way of crashing dropships, parachuting (you know what I mean) on to tanks, holding the line, black ops raids, HALO, LALO, LANO Jumps.
Low Points: Wolfpacks, Protostomps, Tankers (Real Ones).

Creativity, potential and the relevant Eve-universe lore is great.
As an fps, it is not accessible to new players at all (newbs, not noobs, there's a difference)
I wouldn't see myself playing this game if I had <5 mill sp and no one to squad up with. |

Insanely fun in groups. Like, almost L4D fun.
Low on practical variety (game modes, exploration, interaction with EVE, permanent and meaningful consequences, etc.). Its real potential often seems like a distant dream.

I give it a 1 GÇö not to torture serial killers though. I regularly use this a punishment for my kids when they mess up.
"Oh child, looks like you messed up again. Now would you like to be punished with a good beating with a reed or play another hour of DUST?"
They choose the reed every time.

2 added for the social interaction, implications, and importance
It wouldn't be too hard to give the game itself another point or 2 if some slight changes were made that make a major difference in where we are now.
