I mean, using the Magic Crystal Ball is really neat and all, but it does come with an awful lot of side-effects, which can be harmful to you and everyone around you. Remember to use it with caution, and don't forget to take your dose of Common Sense and Logic!
Be a responsible Magic Crystal Ball user!
((Seriously, if you want to criticize the bonuses, fine. But don't go on virtual rampages over something that isn't set in stone yet))

To be fair, we were told that the new armor plate bonuses were tentative and still being worked on. We then got exactly what we thought we were getting.

At what point do you start to get pissed off about CCP Shanghai just shitting all over your favorite new eden race with 10+ years of backstory & lore ignored?
The data in the recently discovered bonuses just shows how much shanghai is willing to continue to **** on amarr.
While there is no better place to be wealthy than the Gallente Federation, there is no hell worse for the poor either.

If you're referring to the new armor bonuses for the Amarr, aren't you a little overreacting? It's not like they suddenly made all Amarr democracy loving hippies. Also, I think reading this would help you on the matter:
Ripley Riley wrote:I sympathize with you, but I think I remember a dev saying that Eve Online game design guides Dust 514 design, but does not dictate it. In other words, yes, Amarr might armor tank like they do in Eve, but not exactly HOW they do in Eve.

I think some players have no clue.
Eve is large space ship (starts at Frigate size) combat and somehow people think that the playstyle of a race is one to one all the way through from every class of space ships to infantry. Not all things scale well and the optimum solution for one size is not for another. A military would adapt their tactics, training and equipment to the optimum at that scale.
To assume that the exact same racial bonuses are used at Dust as Eve is naive. That would be like assuming that marines have 18 inch diameter cannon and 12 inch thick steel plate vests because that's how the Navy battleships do it.
You know what assume breaks down to right.

I disagree.
A better analogy would be assuming Gallente infantry have plasma weaponry like their spaceships because they're really good at building with plasma technology.

You know what assume breaks down to right. I can understand that, but when the playstyles of the large space ship game also exist in the infantry shooter game, but aren't lined up properly, it raises questions. I mean, in EVE the Amarr are the brick armor tankers while the Gallente are the armor regen tankers. Now look at the new assault suit bonuses, and somehow it got flipped to Amarr being the armor regen tankers and Gallente being the brick armor tankers.
Also you then consider that to balance the fact that Amarr ships have the most armor they are made slow, and Gallente are made fast as to use their regen. Yet in Dust, even though the roles are flipped, Amarr are still slow and Gallente are still fast.

Why on earth would you ever believe that infantry would only use one type of weapon? Apart from making zero sense, especially in the case of plasma weapons and their short range, the gallente use rail weaponry just as much as the caldari do, in space and on the ground. No one weapon system can cover all tactical needs.

While the SiSi is subject to change, no such change will occur if CCP is given no reason to make the change.
Thus we make our case for changes. We argue points, we make debates, and as long as we can remain reasonable and not shout that the game is ruined we have the chance to influence the development process.
We are trying our best to work in the system given to us to ensure the changes are an improvement. |
