so I decided that it had been a while and I needed to rebuild my scout suit from the ground up. I had a bunch of cores that had been filled out and my suit was dated.
after filling out my slots with the necessary tank, damage, and cardiac mods and an ADV CBr. I was left with 3 slots
secondary: Grenade: equipment:
I was thinking a flux nade would synergize nicely with the CBr, put a hive with that and it could be a really deadly fit + some nova knives because well fun.
it didn't fit, by a mile like a hundred cpu. switch it out to a compressed hive invalid... okay, ditch the nade I was doing fine without it. invalid... ditch the hive, I'll use the knives to get back to a depot if necessary valid
final fit: [ Suit: ADV gallente suit
Mods: basic cardiac reg advanced damage mod complex shield extender complex armor rep
Primary: ADV CBr
Secondary: ADV nova knives ]
to me this is a fairly modest fit, I'm not trying to fit strait complex mods or strapping on a proto weapon. I have a good mix of mods and solid cores (cpu 4, pg 3). yet i have to make sweeping sacrifices to my suit to stay operational.
is this all the same with all suits at the ADV level, or is it specific to scouts?

As scouts we get it bad, and I have a way easier time with fitting my Gal scout, than my Min scout :(

My PROTO min scout can't even fit an enhanced dampener, basic dampener, enhanced weapon, 2 shield extenders, and a basic damage mod. It doesn't fit.

They changed that already. People have been reporting for a while now that the "some margin of error" message no longer seems to pop up when a dampened suit is nearby. Tests appear to have confirmed this.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

Some of those mods are very resource intensive...damage mods and shield extenders are some of the hardest to fit. Nanohives and uplinks are also notoriously high cost.
Best thing you can do is completely max electronics and engineering, it will help.
Scout doesn't do too bad if you try to fit it with dampeners/range extenders/precision enhancers but you'll have to make a sacrifice somewhere. |

Why not a std combat rifle?
I have settled on a combat rifle with enhanced damage mod on my Adv suit.

Why are you fitting two dampeners on a Min scout (assuming you have scout skill to proto)? With Scout 5/Dampening 3, you only need a basic dampener to avoid 28dB scans. Or are you using AUR suits and only have Scout 3? |

I like running my gal scout but I depend on stealth. So, on my adv fit I run an enhanced damage mod to increase TTK. Need to kill fast because if he turns around and sneezes on me I'm dead. Can't fit a complex because gimped stats, so advanced it is. I also run an adv shield extender. In the lows, since I do stealth, a dampener. And also a basic reactive plate. Only 1hp/sec, but due to the small amount of armor it's not too bad. This allows me to survive more than one engagement without having to switch suits.
For equipment I will run what the situation dictates, can't fit any higher than advanced. No grenade. Weapon depending on the enemy I'm facing, usually a CR or SCR variant depending on what the most enemy suit types are.
If we had just a little more health lol.... Can't tell you how many proto I've ambushed and ALMOST killed only to take two shots from a kalaakiota RR just as he turns around, or actually get the kill but be unable to make it out if the blast radius of a core panic nade.
Such is the life we lead as scouts. My KD has suffered a lot, but running scout is the most fun I've had in this game, so who cares. I feel good when I go positive in a match with scout and I know it's more challenging, especially since I'm running advanced or dragonfly. I just think that someday when they fix scouts I'll be much better off, because I haven't been depending on gear for a crutch.

I fit damage mods on most because while they eat up resources they make your fit cheaper than using adv / proto weapons. Only in certain games where I know I wont get close to the enemy I will even think about using proto Combat Rifle for the extra range.
As a scout - one extender vs two only matters if you are at the edge of the weapon range, if you plan on getting close then most of the time the difference is negligible imo.
A compact nano is a scout's best friend, especially if they use knives or only one weapon - you can get multiple armor repairs. - That being said I have gone back to using RE's alot

I have almost all dropsuit upgrades to 5, all of the fitting ones. It gets a little better, not much. If I fit complex shields, everything else is adv or basic on the advanced gal scout. It basically means I can fit complex shields, a basic weapon, adv sidearm, basic grenade, basic equipment.

Might be time to dust off (no pun intended) my ninja defensive scout to protect some nodes. Lately I've gone with the opposite--an HMG-equipped heavy that dares solo reds to come at me.

I have an ADV (or maybe standard, I can't remember) gallente scout that carries an adv plasma cannon and a nanohive.
I don't try to fit things that won't help me anyway, like any reps above basic. (Seriously, if you're getting shot that often, you're doing something wrong)

Then why are people reporting such things? Is this a sign that there is a bug in the scan?
