I don't know why people see sidearms as inferior useless weapons, the Sub-Machine Gun is Awesome for ripping armor off your opponent, Flaylock Pistol is crappy ATM, but the Boss of all Sidearms is the Scrambler Pistol, if you use the Prototype Assualt variant with 3 Damage mods which is what I use as my primary in my Logi Support suit, it can take a Heavy down in 5 shots to the body & 3 in the head.
My Scrambler Pistol is GoD :)

The scrubs can't handle it.
I use them as my primary on an alt.
I wish I had a good PistolScout fitting on my main - it's that fun/good.
It'll probably be the next weapon I put into Proficiency on this dude, after rounding out a few more things.

Carthum Scrambler Pistol is overpriced when you can still dominate with say the cheaper Viziam or even a tier down with the KLO-1 or TT-3.

While the Cartham is a beast,it really isn't worth the cost.
For pure value on all levels(ISK,damage output,and power requirements)there's probably no better weapon in the entire game than the TT-3. |

The Carthum is overrated. Anything the Carthum can do, the Viziam can do as well, and for cheaper. The Carthum's slightly increased ammo reserves and fire rate are nice, don't get me wrong.
Heck, the advanced versions are quite good as well. The Carthum is not the be all end all in terms of scrambler pistols. |

Thank god we will never get nerfed. This is the one weapon it takes skill for. scrubs will get owned and switch back to the smg. I respect the true gunslingers of dust. I wish the dren came with a standard fitting cost like everything else out of the $100 pack.

First time I heard the pistol is awesome I specced into it.
In the first round I played It shredded through a heavy like he wasnt even there.
Too bad sidearms cost as much as primaries, otherwise Id main it. |

Does it take proficiency to get amazing?
I use the TT-3 now and it's great but just not enough in the clip to get through armor tanked mediums or heavies...unless I get that headshot, which is hard when attacking from the back.
