Dunno what if they could do transport mission simple as the standard fetch quest type mode of gameplay except they are the ones moving us from system to system once we have agents and locality.

But the players who are good enough to get hatemail are not the ones that would be driven out of pvp and sucked into the pve black hole.

I agree with you in principle. PvE is something that belongs as part of the DUST experience, and ideally DUST pve will someday become an integral part of both DUST pvp support infrastructure and the New Eden economy.
But given the state of the game and the matchmaker right now, there's a risk that a decent co-op pve experience would mean pvp was largely left with vets fighting vets.
I'd like to see the matchmaker working properly before the introduction of pve.

I was watching the Fanfest video today about drones. I can't wait till they show up and I hope they are so difficult that the forums erupt in tear threads. Large drones with FG, mediums with HMGs and nade tossing lights. Sounds fun and looks awesome.

Thanks to CCPs unfathomable approach to buff/nerfing PVP just isn't worth playing anymore. It's gotten too hard to find a good match. Although I must admit the break has been good.

I'd imagine that CCP got half-way through a PvE implementation, then put it on ice when the new EP was brought in and said "stop all large feature development, balance and tweaks only, while I create a new roadmap". Hopefully PvE is prominent in that roadmap.
Even a simple PvE training ground would be welcome: a drone or two wandering around an otherwise empty battlefield so new players can practice their controller skills, with zero ISK/SP payout.

I have no sources with which to back this up... but I imagine that PvE might begin to make its appearance when Dust receives it's first expansion. When is fanfest, May? Look for more information then. Until May we will just get the incredibly generic, super disappointing dev response, "That's something we'd love to do!"

I'd like to see a drop in game mode for PvE which turns into PvEvP.
Imagine if you will a squad of content bambi's farming drones in PvE.
Bambi 1- hahahaha we are getting good and enjoying this game look at the ISK we are about to make.
Bambi 2- Yeah Dust is great!
Mid match a band of hardened mercs jump into the match with the sole goal of killing the current contract holders and stealing the ISK rewards.
Bambi 1- Who they **** are they and why are they killing us. Isnt this PvP?

A much more likely outcome would be that we come up with fits that work better for PVE using the existing equipment, that are different from the PVP fits we're currently using. This is usually due to the behaviors of the PVE AI versus the behaviors of real people, but can also be caused by the conditions of battle in PVE when compared to PVP.
The point being, I doubt they would release completely different PVE gear unless it's a module or piece of equipment used specifically in the context of a PVE environment, for example to harvest rewards.
To get to the vast array of non-PVP stuff that exists in EVE would require implementing a lot more sandbox content. I would love to have stories of sneaking through a PVE facility and getting out without disturbing the inhabitants (with a lot of tension due to the skill, precision, and teamwork required to do so), but that's a completely different style of gameplay that's probably several years in the future, if ever.

I love how every one thinks that someone is a casual player just because they play pve. I am a very hardcore player and guess what? i hate pvp its never been fun for me. I only play multiplayer games because they allow you to make your own custom soldier and they allow you to decide what weapons and gear you want. single player games never let you do that unless its a jrpg. But even then jrpgs are just pervert games half the time. |
