okay so after uprising 1.7 came out i was stoked for all the new things and that they kept the assault drops ships in the game but when i finally got to the skills i looked at gallente assault dropship skill(the ship that i use) only to see that it gives a bonus to hybrid turret rate of fire which at first i was upset then i thought hold on maybe the railguns will be good at killing tanks (which there's like 3 at least per match) so i put them on my ship only to notice when trying to kill some large turrets that the efficiency is something like 77 against shield and 66 against amor and i also noticed that it stayed around there even at 200 m away so i dunno if they're broken or something but its just sad i mean i even tried getting a gunner to shoot at the redline installations and if u move even like a tiny bit while he's shooting they veer off course which makes sense but makes them utterly useless i mean using missiles is basically the only choice on dropships, in the end with the efficiency ratings with railguns u will end up doing more damage with missiles in an overall time frame then the railguns, and with blasters u have to be ridiculously close to the ground to get guaranteed kills and if there are any obstacles in the they will just run around them and u don't have the splash damage u need to kill them, also if you are using an assds solo using blasters on the front gun of your ship is a joke.
now i am sorry for this rant i just needed to get my point across now if the pythons role is agility and speed it can come in get kills quick and get out and it cant take many hits then isn't the incubus role should be less agile and slower moving ship but can take hits. now i know it already fulfilled this role since the update but the skill doesn't reflect that, so my proposal is either give it a bonus to something like total hp and amor repair or damage resistance i mean missile are an in between way it to killing vehicles and personnel small railguns just cant kill vehicles and and small blaster's just don't have the right stuff kill personnel on the ground from the air the way missiles can.
even before this update in 1.6 i have yet to have seen small railguns or blasters kill anything in a dropship i have seen them kill when they were on tanks but never when in a dropship so please make the incubus more effective in it's role, cause the way things are the python is better with its skills up i mean xt missiles 50% fire rate 25% reload time reduction can do 5308 damage in ten seconds which is more then enough to kill vehicles with there hardeners down and there still effective against killing infantry so please fix the incubus assds skill cause atm the python is way better even if it isn't very resilient. and if not fixed soon i don't think there will be anymore incubus pilots. (including myself)
(also this doesn't mean i think missiles should be nerfed they are fine just the way they are)

50% bonus to rate of fire 1.2 - 50% = .6, 25% reduction on reload speed 4-25% =3, so 10 seconds -3 =7 seconds 7 divided by .6 =11.6666 x 455= 5308, |

I hate to onle line such a long OP but what if the railgun is improved instead? I have proto rails and the do need a change. I think once balanced and the reticle changed the gallente bonus will be fine.
(I am an Incubus pilot mainly this build)

if they did improve the rails it could work but atm there stupidly broken first they need to fix the efficiency and the overheat cooldown or just let u build up more heat but even if they did fix the rails its still ultimately broken cause even if the python did 1-2k less damage every 10 secs vs vehicles it would still be preferred since it can kill infantry how ever if u got and 8% amor res bonus per level for a total of 40% at lv 5 it would fufile its role as a long term support ship that can take some forge and railgun shots before fleeing. |

With the overheat being so quick, I think the damage needs to increase. Plus the efficiency needs to go up too. They are useless against infantry, which is fine. But if they are going to be like that they need to excell somewhere. That somewhere is against vehicles. We also need them to have better abilities against equipment. Right now it is too hard to kill uplinks.

I personally love the changes to Galante drop ship. However I only fly solo when I use my ADS. I think the heat build up is fine for now because they haven't add the modules to reduce it and when they do, large rail guns will just own even more and we have yet to get pilot dropsuits as well. But compared to the old small rail guns, this build is a huge improvement and I love it. Just takes a lot of practice to hit the target a lot when its moving.
Oh and the only change I didn't like is having 1 high slot, I miss having a cru or DMG mod on my ADS :( |

Haven't flown in earnest before so can't compare, but yeah aiming is hard! I fly solo too atm. Got my first infantry kill the other day - and only after skilling into missiles.
Can't tell if it's the reticule that makes it easier or what, but it sure seems easier. Perhaps it's a combination of this and the splash damage. Then again, I might've just gotten a little better whilst I've been saving SP for missile skill tree.
Also managed to take out some turret installations with rails. Sure I know they don't move, but it still takes some practice! |

Well the railgun is air superior it can take down dropships with ease and mix it in with the gallente bonus and assault dropship dmg boost you got yourself a fine setup

Yes and no. This does very well when you are facing another dropship or engaging a tank but without an afterburner you are a sitting duck for a redline railgun to swat you out of the sky. And the small railgun on an incubus is actually pretty good vs shields (tank or dropship), I can typically take out most or all of a shield tanks shields if I land all 12 shots (which is where it overheats).
Here is what I think needs to happen:
Hybrid turrets need to no longer have an overheat mechanic, leave that to laser weapons only. -Because there is no overheat, reduce large railgun clip size. -With no overheat an incubus pilot will be very effective against shield tanks and okay against armor. -Small blasters need their line of fire changed to a cone like effect similar to the HMG, this will improve their ability to hit infantry. -Reduce missile splash damage, currently it's splash is almost equal to a direct small railgun hit which is unfair.
With those changed you now have a dropship that can be very effective against both infantry and tanks but not with the same turret. Small missiles will be great vs armor tanks and modest vs infantry, making it more of a "jack-of-all-trades" turret rather than a "master-of-all" that it currently is. |
