Forgive me, mighty Infantry, for I may speak of what I do not know but it seems to me that suits, while they have bonuses, lack role based bonuses and cons. I believe I've posted this in the past yet it wasn't read as much as I'd hoped.
Suits have different bonuses, yes, but why do roles not? Sure slots and such changed based on the role the suit is meant to play, but why is it there is nothing to encourage you into speccin' assault to assault? I've heard people laugh about using a sentinel over a standard heavy frame. They offer no bonus. Lets look at these four roles
Assault - Assault Infantry Logistics - Support Infantry Scout - Recon Infantry Sentinel - Heavy Infantry
Seems simple enough, why not do something that offers a bonus and a con for each suit? I mean some are already built in to the suits, take the Logi, it has plenty of CPU, PG and slots but no real drawback except it's a little slower than an assault (And in Amarrs case, doesn't lose a sidearm), why not give it a damage reduction? Sentinels have heavy weapons, but it's not much of a bonus as they're weaker than some logistic suits out there, why not give them damage resistance to help with both Infantry and Vehicles?
Scouts have their speed but are weak, in addition to this why not, when cloaks and ewar are added, give them an advantage to this? Make planting R.Es and such soundless when in a scout suit. Assault suits could gain ammo capacity and reload speed, I am not sure on it's drawbacks.
Surely, role based bonuses and cons would be more advantageous rather than reducing CPU/PG for any or removing slots, DUST is meant to be the game where many fits are viable, but if we make it so only a handful of fits are useful, we're only hurting ourselves.

This is the basic premise behind tiercide, making all suits viable but as you skill up you get more specialized suits with more specialized bonuses.
It gets a resounding yes from me. Really would aid new players and old players alike. |

They also need to print the bonuses on the damn suits and not in the skill.

I'm pretty sure the idea of not giving role related bonuses has to do with players formimg their own roles.
A heavy sniper would not need a cqc bonus for example.
I like that the bonuses are pretty much universal and you develop your own role. The more creative the player the better they are at making that role work. Regardless of role bonuses.

Wouldn't bonuses to modules be more useful than this? It seems like there'd need to be something of a rebalance to add these. A major one. Can you imagine a Sentinel with even 10% resists? It's already a popular suit for rifles...
And I don't like the idea of cutting logi damage output - better to buff the assaults.
In the end I'm not really seeing where this differs from the bonuses we already have.

I could, it's fat, slow and needs a little bit more protection :P
Buffing Assaults like what? I come on the forums and there is always QQ about Logis being best at everything despite it being support, these don't have to be massive buffs/debuffs, just enough to know you'd fair better using an assault for slaying rather than a logi.
Oh and are you ig yet? I want to tell you how much of a bad player I think you are.

no to drawbacks
but
what about this.
assault get weapon cpu/pg reduction along with a racial tank bonus logi gets equipment cpu/pg reduction along with the repair bonus recon gets biotics and sensor module cpu/pg reduction along with a racial ewar bonus heavies get cpu/pg reduction to hard hp modules when a heavy weapon is fit
this makes it far easier to fit weapons to assaults meaning far easier to fit more and better tank. with logi's this allows for better equipment to be fit and puts the tank on a more even term with assaults for recons this makes it easier for them to go un noticed about the battlefield for heavies this would hopefully increase tank while using HMG/forge which are left at a disadvantage to say heavies with light weapons. any defensive buff not like this would boost the ehp of these assault heavies which is counter productive to keeping heavies as heavies.

Jason Pearson wrote:... Sentinels have heavy weapons, but it's not much of a bonus as they're weaker than some logistic suits out there... I read the whole post but this part really caught my eye. Since the HP buff to the heavy its impossible for a logistic suit to dual tank as much EHP as a heavy suit. Not to mention with the buff to the HMG they're now god in CQC again. I thoroughly enjoy their newly reformed abilities on the battlefield.
I would agree that some of the suits need a rework on their bonuses. As a Caldari Logi I would much rather the "5% reduction to equipment PG/CPU usage per level." bonus than the current Caldari Logi bonus of "+5% to efficacy of shield regulator modules per level." |
