This game, like Eve, is a very deep one, with regards to modules and dmg calculation etc. Info such as what qualifies as a hybrid gun, damage profiles, optimum and absolute ranges, fall off. All this stuff factors in and is available if you Google it. Now I get thatdsome info shouldn't be obvious, but even in Eve all that info is readily available in game, where as with dust, it's buried deep in the forums. I feel like it would be simple to include in the weapon info pages I'm game, info like
Weapon optimum range Weapon fall off range Weapon absolute range Weapon category (hybrid/laser/projectile) Damage profile
Another bit for useful info would be , though not on the weapons screen:
What flags tacnet Does scan profile affect tactnet And other info relating to that.
This is information that is critical in game play and hiding it in the forums only serves to make it harder for new players to see this game as anything more complex than a CoD clone, and furthermore, raises the barrier of entry. This is especially true for weapons like the Laser Rifle, where it isn't inherently obvious why your gun can't hurt enemies up close. I mean yeah there is the effectiveness rating when targeting enemies, but Yuri can't always look at that, and many noobs I imagine, don't know it's there. |

Good to see I'm not the only one. Thanks for the thumbs up. What I'd really like to see though is a Dev post stamp to get an idea if there is some reason this hasn't/can't be done yet. I really feel like this seems like a simple issue of adding more number **** to the game, but I really don't think that they understand how crucial it is to include it. I also think this would help players track if a weapons damage seems to be to high outside of it's intended range. As of now, most people don't know what the AR's operation range is supposed to be: they just point and shoot and if it kills them then it's the operating range. The reality though may be that this or other guns may be operating well outside their intended ranges but most players would never know because most don't know the gun ranges off the top of their head, which I'd bet, is because they spend little time doing research on the topic or that they just don't see it often. |
