I rarely, if ever, use the turret in the back of my little LAV.
I would LOVE it if, instead of fitting a turret to the back of my LAV, I could swap it out for a troop seat. Call it a Squad Transport Module or something. Take out the turret, put in a bench seat on either side of the bed of an LAV. Justify the CPU/PG cost by including troop "shielding" that simply makes the hitbox of the LAV rise up to the bottom of a dropsuit's neck level to protect the troops being transported a little bit, but still allowing them to be shot or sniped, or even for a REALLY skilled or lucky grenade tosser to lob a grenade in there and kill the lot of them. Give the LAV slightly more shields or armor to make up for the lack of a turret. Make it accommodate two troops at lvl 1 skill and add 2% module efficacy for the HP boost per level, for a total of 4 mercs riding passenger, 3 troops at lvl 3 and 4 troops at level 5 for to transport a full squad in a single LAV, with a 10% boost to the efficacy of the HP increase effect. It could require skill lvl 3 of LAV operation to start skilling into the module.
I think it'd make a juicy target for a savvy AVer, and an awesome mechanic for good squads on the move, without wasting two LAVs toward the team quota.
How many of you would use the module? Who thinks it would be useful?

Come on, NO one that read this bothered to respond? We'll never get the option if we don't talk about it. =/ |

You'll get more folks to read it if you go back, edit your post, and break that large paragraph into several smaller ones. Smaller paragraphs are much easier to read on these forums.
Also, great idea.
Kaethis.
Thanks dude. =)
Done. Kinda grammatically improper now, but whatever. If it helps, I'm Happy with it. Lol
Anything I can do with the title to make it more appealing to people browsing the forums? I've changed it twice now. |

I've been wanting something like this for a while.
If it had no fitting costs, I'd stick them on my tank. Five seats is most of my squad. I could run transport on the side without compromising my solo effectiveness.
I don't know about tanks, dude. Lol The idea is that you trade offensive power to be a troop transport. Having both a massive ass turret and a troop transport would be a little OP, I think. |

Yeah they do. It's such a pain in the arse. I'm trying to get a good idea out and people are too lazy to read it. Lol
Did my TL;DR help? |

Ecshon Autorez wrote:One of the LAV variants should come like this, we used to have: (logi was removed because it was so tanky and being used solely to run people over, scout was super rare to begin with since it just got extra speed) Either the Logi or the Scout shouldn't come with a turret and should instead come with a group seat in the back when they get put back into the game.
- Logi: A logistics vehicle, transporting troops is considered logistics. But since it's near front lines a turret might be needed.
- Scout: Taking whole groups of people behind enemy lines.
They should have them sort of like how vehicles and starter fits come with stuff already fitted, if you want a logi with a turret then you can replace the seats with the turret. I personally would want the logi to have the seats in the back. As for the seats themselves how bout STD ADV and PRO all get different stuff?
- STD
-just the seats
- ADV
-the seats -armor on the left and right side of the vehicle
- PRO
-the seats -armor on all sides, fully enclosing them from the ground (but still open to the air) / armor on left and right sides and over top but still open behind the vehicle (I like the second one better methinks)
Kind of a cool idea, but I'm trying for something more easily programmed, that they can give us sooner than SOONtm. Lol |

But I think some sort of delay in getting in and out would be needed - like a driver controlled door or a mount and dismount animation so a full squad could not ram raid an objective and be insta killing, they would have to consider cover when dismounting.
I was talking about this with someone else in another thread. I think it's a really good idea, but I don't know how hard it would be to implement it. Maybe not even so much for the purpose of keeping squads from rushing objectives or enemy encamped positions, but more so for the immersion factor. I mean it will stop people from bum rushing one another, but I like the immersion aspect even more. Both reasons are good. Lol |
