Without proficiency, you need 4cx damage mods, around 500-800 armor and a scanner/nanohive combo.
1.29x damage with those, and you can scare the **** outta rail rifles, just gotta be careful and not let them walk 2-3 meters backwards. Also if they damage mod their Kaalakiota you're screwed.

Eh, pretty much, tried 3 and was outDPS'ed at max range by a RR, standard. Switch to 4 and you melt even in CQC (was actually amazed by that one.)

You're really gimping your fit if you put four damage mods on. That fourth complex mod is only getting you 3.5% extra damage, whereas a shield extender would give you around 10% extra HP. |

I used the LR since it's induction in the game. It's the main reason I played this game, waiting for the LR. I haven't used it since the recent update. It's absolute trash. |

While having a heavy with twin dmg mods wil work, i'm talking being able to actively survive a forefight against 1 AR.

If CCP is going to require the weapon to be at a range to be useful at least give it the longest range, even if it doesn't make sense lorewise. Especially when the weapon needs to heat up for ~2.5 seconds to do the same damage as a STD AR at optimal.
The new weapon's ranges really just did it for me, so I put my LR away until it's ironed out.

Hmm. I thought I ran some tests (aiming at a supply depot and backing off till the effeciancy dropped) and saw that lazers do have a slightly higher range than RRs?
Plus, lazers give you the ability to preheat and then swipe onto someone's face, which will insta pop shields.
Ive been having fun using lazers in this build. Also they are a GREAT assist machine. You drop shields and allow RRs to insta kill folks. A RR working with a lazer is a WP machine for those 2 players. |

It's the fall-off damage that makes the LR useless. As soon as someone takes a few steps out of it's optimal range, you are done. I was a loyal LR user, but had to switch to a scrambler in order to fend off attacks from RR, AR, and even the CR. While technically it has less range, it will do more damage at it's max range.
CCP, we miss the LR. Don't buff it to the way it was in Chromosome, but please fix it. |
