A heavy does not jump, it pushes the planet away from him.
I find your statement to be very true,
Also on the subject of heavy drive-by's Just be aware of the LAV closing in. If you are anything except a heavy don't waste bullets trying to kill them before they reach you and instead use that time to find the closest hill or cover and take advantage of it, also be constantly falling back to keep out of their range, kind of like a kite tactic in EVE. Also if you are a heavy or commando like myself, you go straight for them. That's at least how I've dealt with them for the most part. |

Because you know, Dust514 maps are preatty F%#$^& open...
Besides these 2 point, Heavies in LAV's are powerful because AV is underpowered and there by Underused, there by they can abuse doing this to nullify their weakness, speed. THATS ALL.
I agree, AV can really use a boost in damage but if you are with a squad and not solo you can do fine against any vehicle and that it is a pretty ridiculous idea in dust to think you can run to cover but if you are in the middle of the open long enough for a heavy in a LAV to roll on you, that's your problem because you decided to sit out there in the first place. Also the maps may have little to no cover but they got a ton of hills you can take advantage of.
I'm not saying use your radar, I'm saying actually look around and pay attention to your surroundings. The radar is next to useless if you don't have active scanners because CCP doesn't know how to work the scan profiles.

CCP has to add an animation for either opening a door of the car or hopping in and out of the car to better emulate reality. Apart from that, heavies HMG got a distance nerf last hotfix down to 28 meters from 31 to do full damage and are doing about half damage or less at 40 meters. They are out ranged' out run and outstrafed by any other suit/weapon in the game except NV and shotties.
If this tactic is not to your liking i would honestly have to say to htfu. There are many, many disadvantages to being a heavy. Compensating for those shortcomings by using an lav to close the gaps is smart play on their part.
This is not an exploit. Exploits are glitches or poorly planned mechanics. Even with a well implemented animation of getting in and out of a vehicle leaving the heavy vulnerable for 1 to 1.5 seconds, it would still be a viable option. Much better than trying to waddle towards your opponent to try and close a gap you'll never be able to close on foot.
Heavies had to suffer for too long, being out damaged by the most crappy of players because the hmg was crap. Being oyt ranged, out dps'ed, etc. Complaining about a viable tactic is wrong. Specially when it's done because you dislike it.
You have expressed my feelings perfectly |
