So if we consider a proto Gallante Scout suit with level 5 scout(-5% Scout profile per level for a total of 25% less profile) and if we add the profile dampening level 5 in (-2% profile per level) we get a grand total of 35% less profile dampening.
Therefore, .35 x 45 = 15.75. So then, 45 GÇô 15.75 = 29.25 So the default profile of the scout would be 29.25.
Now let us add a complex profile dampener ans basic dampener, I will assume that the profile dampener affects the original profile, 45, instead of the one affected by the skills, 29.25. If anybody could tell me if the dampener affects the original suit profile or modified profile, it would be much appreciated. Anyhow...
.3347 x 45 = 15.0615
Now here is where I am really not sure about it.
I add the modified subtraction from the passive skills, 15.75, to the subtraction from the complex dampener, 11.25.
Therefore, 15.0615 + 11.25 = 30.8156
Then, 45 GÇô 30.8155 = 14.1885 db
So my question is, am I right? Will one Complex Dampener and one basic dampener keep you off 15 db Duvolle Focused Scanner?
I argued this before but someone said that they had tested it and that the only way to get below 15 db would be to use 4 complex dampeners on a Gallante Scout suit.
So was my math wrong or was their test flawed?

I don't think it works that way, but I don't have a Gallente Scout to test it.
My theory:
Start at 45dB. Profile Dampening Lvl 5 bonus applies first (-10%), bringing you down to 40.5dB.
From the 40.5dB, your scout bonus applies (-25%), bringing you to 30.375dB.
From 30.375dB, you now subtract your reduction bonus from profile dampener modules. The bonus from these are affected by stacking penalties. So one basic and one complex computes to -33.47%, or only 20.21dB. Four complex is -53.23%, or 14.21dB. You can only get under 15dB using four complex (switching to 3 complex and one enhanced puts you at 15.15dB). |

If that is how it works than that means that the only scout suit that will ever be able to avoid the Duvolle Focused scanner will be the Proto Gallante Scout, I of course assume that neither the Caldari scout nor the Amarr scout will have 4 or more low slots. Quite a disappointing result.

Sana Rayya wrote:The below facts have been tested/verified by me using two PS3s in Oceania.
1. Scouts inherently beat Advanced and Basic scanners by nature of their suit bonus (avoids 36dB and higher).
2. To beat 28dB proto scanners, scouts need Dampening Lvl 3 and a single basic or militia dampener. I previously thought it was Lvl 2 Dampening but it's really Lvl 3.
3. To beat the 15dB Duvolle Focused scanners, the Gallente proto scout must have Dampening Lvl 5 and four complex dampeners. Three complex and one enhanced won't do it. This is the only suit in the game that beats the Duvolle Focused.
4. In all of my tests, I received "No Margin of Error" upon scanning the scout no matter if he was illuminated (successfully scanned) or not. I was not able produce the "Some Margin of Error" message, leading me to believe that it was either taken out entirely or that the conditions to display it are so discriminative that it is very rarely seen.
So my advice to scouts:
Get dampening to 3 (202k SP).
Start your battles without dampeners. If you find that you are scanned, switch to a suit with a basic or militia dampener.
If you are scanned after that, either switch to a different class or take note of when you are scanned and count for 10 seconds; once ten seconds are up (the scan time and illumination time of Duvolle Focused scanners), you will likely fall off of the squad's radar (unless they have multiple Duvolle Focused scanners in the squad, which is rare).
If you still find yourself dying or suspect the enemy of using multiple Focused scanners, snipe :)
The post is from today in Gen discussions, go check it out. Give Sana a thumb.

even then even if you DO show up dosnt such a tiny profile mean you pretty much disappear in .5 of a second?

Well with the new base scout db being 35 all a g-scout has to equip is a complex damp and he/she will be just fine.
