Try facing a Heavy at 20+ meters, you'll have success unless they're using a Freedom Assault.

Not if your in my scout suit XD I have to engage from even further back. They way it scatters now is a serious threat to my little suit just trying to snag a few kills. That being said heavies love to chase me. And im really good at baiting traps. ;)

Previous to this patch, I could win most CQC battles against HMGs, even in sub-optimal conditions. There is no good reason an smg should outperform and HMG. If you want to dislodge a heavy from a socket/building, bring a friend and/or use grenades. If you catch him out in the open, you shouldn't have any problem killing a heavy. The buff to the HMG lets the heavy perform one of the intended roles for the frame (i.e. close quarters point defense). I think 1.7 has actually been decent for weapon balance and the HMG is just another example of this. -Aramis

My only thought is how much I enjoy being a heavy and use (even the most basic) HMG to it's full potential. Whilst a few linger and stand their ground, the majority will run and hide. I fear no-one and never will.

I will explain something for all the retards who are QQing. shoot the heavy at medium- long range and you win shoot the heavy at short range and you loose. all those who used to sit at the HMG's optimal in your proto suit with a gek or duval, not move and win should have realised that this was not balanced. you may have mistaken it for skill but I assure you that there was no skill in it. As I stopped using the heavy a while ago - I still prefer to use medium suits as its more versatile, but its nice to be able to know that when the time is right the HMG/heavy combo has its place again
