This is the most expensive free-to-play (or some call it free-to-pay) game ever. I have played since the 1st day of closed Beta, and have been an asset to this game, giving feedback where possible. The is my feedback for this STILL beta phase game-Full Respec is needed. Christmas is around the corner, all these PS4s Santa is delivering-come on, give us a reason to continue to play. No it's not. If you want to look at it that way Dust will NEVER leave beta. They will always change things. Suits will be nerfed, weapons will be buffed, vehicles added. What you spec into now will not stay the same. Besides that, I don't know how often I will have to say this, you get unlimited SP and you can spec into everything. There is not a single thing denying you to spec into tanks after you specced into infantry or vice versa. Additionally: No other game allows for such kind of a respec AT ALL. If you play WoW and have your Level 90 Warrior the game will not allow you to suddenly change your warrior to become a mage. No game does this. All they allow is to reassign your skillpoints for your current class because the skillpoints in these games are limited. The vehicle respec was needed. it was no favor to the vehicle users. It was needed because they changed the entire skill tree so that the SP vehicle users had already invested couldn't be transitioned to the new skilltree. This was the reason for the respec. Because of this you will never see another respec in Dust unless CCP decides the infantry skilltree is ****** up and needs to be completely reworked. So instead of QQing all the time and starting 300 respec threads just learn to deal with it and save up your SP instead of wasting them on stuff you don't need. Because the whining never stops this is what I assume all you people do. I too made mistakes while speccing. I leveled Caldari Assault to Level 3 even though I don't use it at all. But instead of whining for a respec I just did what every single normal person would do: Just live with it and spend the next SP I get all the time into the suit I really want to use. It works wonders. And no: There won't be a respec after all racial suits and all missing weapons are released either. First of all it is very well possible that they will release even more suits and weapons in the future. Also you can just save up for new items all the time. Geez. Even the RR and CR were announced early enough so you could say: I want to use them! Let's save up some SP! That's what I did. 2 weeks before they came out. And on patch day I was able to get both of them to level 5. It is so extremely simple. Tl;dr There is not a single reason for a respec unless CCP thinks it is in order to rebuild a whole skilltree.
You are completely wrong.
We are still beta because we still haven't finished the verisimilitude of the races. There are NO Amarr and Caldari vehicles, buildings, turrets, etc. There are no Heavy class suits except for Amar and only two types of Heavy Weapons: one for Caldari and one for Minmatar. There still is no sidearm for the Caldari or the Gallente. There are no Amarr or Caldari Light Suits. There are still only MCC's for the Caldari and Gallente (no Amarr or Minmatar). So you are wrong. Once they have these BARE MINIMUM things to make the game able to be fielded by any race, then I would agree with the rest of changes being additions to the game and "extra" content. But right now there is NO LEVEL PLAYING FIELD due to unbalance verisimilitude. So it's still technically BETA and respecs are warranted.
I *can* spec into anything except the things that I really want to. Things like a Minmatar Assault Dropship with Autocannons of Death. A Minmatar tank with an Artillery Cannon. A Minmatar Heavy to use that HMG. Until then, I am penalized by CCP and have to use crap that I hate. That is why respec is warranted.
Actually WOW is where the respec comes from! As that level 90 Warrior you have a choice of three types to play: DPS, Tank, or Other. All you have to do is pay for a respec in the game to do it. In this game we are ALL mercs and thus just respecing into different aspecs of that. The "other class" is to play EVE and be a pilot. That's why I started this thread: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=118583&find=unread
I understand why they did the SKILLPOINT REFUND for vehicle users, but that was NOT a RESPEC! It was a REFUND! Everyone needs to be clear on that point!
And saving up SP is like hiding your money under your mattress it's HUGE WASTE as it's sitting there doing NOTHING! Sp not used is SP being wasted and the longer you hold onto it the more it is wasted. I cannot just sit on 10+ million SP hoping that one day soonGäó CCP will finally fix the verisimilitude in this game. If I did that then I would be of no use to my corp in PC matches, of no use to my faction in FW, and no use at all to the devs of this game when it comes to providing a challenge to other players and testing out how gameplay actually works!
As for the "annoncements" so you have time to save up SP idea, I did that for the CR and you know what I still didn't have enough time after maxing out my bonus SP each week and even using an OMEGA booster the whole time. I still fell 2 million SP short! So I can imagine with anything more costly like new vehicles and the like it will be even worse!
Your arguments fail because CCP failed to release things with any verisimilitude in this game. If they had released equivalent things for EVERY RACE at the same time, then I would agree with you as that is how it was done in EVE, but that's NOT what they did. Instead they gave the Caldari and Gallente players a HUGE advantage with vehicles and the Amarr an even bigger advantage with Heavy Suits! |

Easy fix... Make it a "Do you want respec? (Y/N)" option. Those that opt out don't have to change a thing like yourself. And then you can be all bragging about it on the forums and how much better you are at this game because of it to the rest of us for all I care. But some of us weren't lucky enough to have CCP magically start the game off with the suits, weapons, and vehicles that we happened to want.

Thats the same way EvE did it. You never got a respec because a new ship or weapon came out.
F U C K no it wasn't! Do you even play EVE?
Whenever they introduce a new class or category of ship to EVE they include all FOUR RACES of it at the same time! So when they gave us interdictors they didn't say, well this month we will only introduce the Amarr interdictors and the rest of you guys will have to wait 6 + months for the other ones to come out.
But that is EXACTLY what they did in DUST. They introduced vehicles only for the Caldari and Gallente with their turrets and rather unintentionally told the Amarr and Minmatar players to F**K O*F at the same time. They gave the Amarr the only Heavy Dropsuits in the game and similarly screwed over the other three races as a result.
Your dumb analogy only demonstrates how ineptly you understand the verisimilitude in this game!

I'm using it the way that the dev's used it in their blog: http://dust514.com/news/blog/2013/12/interview-with-ccp-remnant/

For a start, we need to complete our set of racially aligned gear (for example, finishing out the remaining dropsuits and weapons). This is important, not only for verisimilitude, but for gameplay balance. Beyond that, weGÇÖre going to be focusing on discrete, significant improvements to individual features that will be announced in the near future. |

Aikuchi Tomaru wrote:No, you are wrong. You just don't understand the game. We are not in Beta anymore. Yeah, sure stuff is missing. But how will this continue? We will get the racial weapons, vehicles and dropsuites. Will we leave beta then in your opinion? But when we do then what about the hazard suites? The devs already said we will get suites for each type of planet which will give bonuses. Is the game then complete? But then again there are still new vehicles coming. MAVs will come. Do we leave beta then? But then there is the pilot suit which is currently missing. You just don't understand how Dust works. The game will NEVER be complete. There will be new content all the time. It doesn't matter if its all racial dropsuits or if vehicles. Content will be added as long as Dust will exist. You can't draw a line like that. The missing racial dropsuits and so on are just new items like all the other stuff that will be added in the future. And if you give people another respec now it will always be unfair to not give other people a respec when new stuff comes out in which they want to spec into. You are use skills which cost 1,2 million SP to max out to justify respecs. 2 million SP is something you get in 4 weeks. This is by far no reason for a respec at all.
Again you just don't get it do you? If every race only had medium assault and light scout suits, and there were only LAV's but with all FOUR racial versions of them, then I would agree with you. However that is NOT the case. Instead one race has heavy suits off the bat an NO OTHER race has them. Only TWO RACES have any vehicles and the weapons that go with them. How is that fair? How is that balanced? In EVE when they started off they didn't say Caldari only get cruisers while Amarr are the only race to get battleships did they? NO they didn't. They gave everyone frigates and cruisers! EVERYONE! No just a race here or there. That is the one of the worst problems of DUST right now is that they forgot to balance things out and maintain the verisimilitude of the races.
Quote:Then save the SP. Nobody forces you to use them right now. You are just unpatient. You want to spec stuff now but you don't want to wait to get the racial suit you are waiting for now to level 5. You want to use SP now even though you KNOW there is stuff down the line you want more. And you can't be bothered to only spend SP when you have more than 2 million on your SP bank?
If you don't like it, then don't play. Simple as that. You act like you have to play it. Hint: You don't. CCP doesn't force you to play. You can simply wait until the stuff you want to use is in the game.
So running around with 0 SP spent into anything with 20+ million in the bank makes sense to you? Right now people are trying to claim districts, you gonna pick the guy that has 20+ million SP and NONE of it spent on anything? Because for the stuff that *I* want to use the SP on, they have NOT implemented it into the game yet. There are non Minmatar dropships and tanks, so what do I do now? Your argument makes no sense!
Quote:No. This is NOT the other class. The other class is being a tanker, a dropship pilot, a heavy, a scout, a logi. These are your "classes" so to speak. If you see merc as a class, then "hero" would be your class in WoW. But the class is the specilization.
Then by your logic, CCP only allowed the Amarr Race to have the "Heavy" class. How is that fair? The Caldari and Galente are the only ones that can be pilots or tankers. But even by your own words, they are NOT classes, they are "specializations."
Quote:Yeah. You want to use SP now on skills you will need sooner or later anyways, but you suddenly don't want them anymore when you see the opportunity to spec into a shiny new item. You want to benefit from spending SP now and then you think you are entitled to a respec. This is not how it works. You're just unpatient, spoiled and entitled. You want to spend everything on the spot and think everybody should give you what you demand. You want to benefit from these SP now until there is something you would like more.
Let me ask you something. if you want to play heavy now, then why would you skill into the CR? Why? THere is no reason. The SP you say are wasted when you don't spend them are also wasted when you spend them into something you won't use. I personally have at least 5 million SP "wasted" because I spend them into equipment I don't use all the time. Why would it hurt you to just save these up instead of spending them? When you use a suit there will always be skills which don't effect the suit you currently run. Basically all skills which aren't core skills fall under that category.
So the "You won't be useful" argument doesn't work here... at all.
Jesus Christ dude! READ WHAT I POSTED. I don't give a God Damn about "shiney new" bullshit! I only want the stuff that goes with MY race that I play in the game! Just because it happened to be included last doesn't mean that the ONLY ******* reason I wanted it was because it was new! Obviously since this is the only way in which you can come to comprehend this, then you must operate on this level yourself. DON'T PUSH YOUR IDIOCY ONTO ME!
Quote:They were announced with 1.5. We knew about them even way before that and you want to tell me you didn't have enough time to save up for them?
They announced MTACs before the closed beta was ever released, are you saving SPs for that! There was no definite "THIS WILL BE IN PATCH" until like 3 weeks prior and that was not enough time!

No it was not! In EVE all FOUR races would get the same class of ship or weapon AT THE SAME TIME! Show me where anyone other than Amarr has a heavy suit? Show me where my Minmatar tanks and dropships are at?
That is the problem.
If they had just made all races start off the same, then no problems, but they didn't and now we have all kinds of imbalances and broken crap.
