Right now, 5 mlt tanks against 0 tanks isn't too uncommon. It results in a slaughter....unless it's 5 mlt tanks vs 1 true tanker or 5 mlt tanks. I for see many people speccing tanks because they're fun. When tanks are in each team, the enemy tanks take priority and infantry become speed bumps at best. When we have more tankers, like in Chrome, having 4 v 4 tank battles will be extremely common. Tanks will fight tanks and infantry will fight over objectives. The side with the BETTER tankers will achieve open ground dominance. I'd hold off on any crazy nerf for 2 months to see of the meta game fixes the problem which it often does.
Soon, these sicas and somas will turn into gunlogis and madrugars. Every battle will be 3-dimensional, and perfect imbalance will be achieved. When we have more real tankers, militia tanks will be death traps and only real tankers will bring tanks to fight tanks....I hope. Time will tell but give the meta a chance to do its thing.

In the meantime I'll just continue to get gang raped by 5 tanks spawn trapping a single objective and solemnly watch as they ROFLSTOMP everything in sight on their way to Victory.
The next 2 months are going to be SO much fun! You did say only 2 months right.... |

I just hate that anyone can call in a railgun installation and camp so far in the redline that I basically can't do anything about it with my dropship. You can't AV them because they just roll backwards. You can't OB them because they just roll backwards. You can't RE them because they just roll backwards.
It's bad enough when a skilled tanker does this, but when literally a day one character can do this, it's just obnoxious.

I'm willing to give it a try. Though forge guns should get their charge times back and maybe, and I stress maybe give swarms a little more damage, the range is fine though. I say this because av needs to be more effective. However it defiantly doesn't need to be where it was in every other patch in dust. |

Right now I can run a dropsuit and get killed by infantry, militia tanks and proper tanks.
Or I can run a free suit, call in a cheap tank myself, then kill infantry, be even against other militia tanks, and only really have to worry about proper tanks.
When the real tankers have got rid of the militia tank spam they'll just move on to slaughtering infantry.
Then the infantry will go away.

They're too easy to use. The difference between militia and the basic tanks is slight. To the point where 20m sp and 2m sp into vehicles makes little difference.
With the speed of tanks and their ability to run away it's almost easier for tanks to avoid each other and just farm the infantry. If one tanker is outclassed they just scoot away and wait for the bigger fish to swim past then out they come again.
If trends continue the tank abuse will get worse not better. |

2 mounts are u nuts how many players will quit do to the bs tank av "fix" that was in 1.7 its total bs tanks are harder to kill then b4 and av weapons all were nurffed what we need are slower tanks that dont jump off hills like trophy trucks and av weapons that can damage them there hardeners 4 shields and armor last too damn long by the time they run out they have removed all threats there are too meany battles wear tanks will trap players in a building so they can not even have a chance to call in a tank when players only have control of 6 players that join a battle its hard to say we all need to bring in tanks. i am so sick of being in matches where after or during players quit playing 4 the day do to the tank spamming with no way to remove them and yes to all u who say it takes a team effort 1st we have tried to remover then with 3 swarms 2 forge and 1 guy with av but you cant fight 3 tanks together and we don't damage them enough 2nd it is not effective 4 a full squad to all be in av fits this leaves 6 players ez to kill by infantry and last point is there are too meany tanks going 30+ and 0 in battle |

This game gets worse, not better. Maybe if CCP spent their resources releasing new stuff instead of changing everything all the time. This game might actually get somewhere.

the nurff to range is the biggest problem do to how fast tanks can move now i can barely get 2 swarms off b4 a tank is out of range never mind that after 3 swarms i need to reload and he has 3 sec to get away or kill me

this is b a fps not a damm tank game av is ineffective now and tanks are not easier to kill then b4 the 1.7 crap change

Well, a Sica with a Railgun is a fantastic AV weapon. I love it. I just got my Gunnlogi and am heading straight for Proto Railguns. Infantry AV is trash right now, so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Can't do too much to Infantry yet, still getting used to the railgun charge, projectile speed, and drop, so all I can hit is snipers that stand really still, but I'm getting better.
Tanking is actually fun. Haven't used vehicles since Codex and finally putting a few SP into it again. I'm considering trying out Dropships again, but seeing what Railguns and Forges do to them is making me pretty hesitant, lol. Otherwise, it has been a lot of fun tank busting. |

Literally anyone can now call in a railgun deep in the redline with two damage mods and deny almost all dropship play outside of flying around in circles at the height ceiling. There is no reliable way to remove them either aside from suicide runs, so typically if one person does this you have to recall your ship.
I'd be miffed if it was just skilled tankers who invested SP and ISK doing this, but instead I'm just pissed because a day one character can do this now.

I know, Fiend. I flew way back when, used to do nothing but flying, and still remember when I had Mavado's Madruger/Surya 1-shot my 5K health dropship because of massive damage bonuses for Railgun and for some reason CCP felt it necessary to give Dropships a weakpoint.
CCP has proven that somehow, the creators of Internet Spaceships, cannot create Air Vehicles worth a damn. People bitched and complained that the Dropships were OP back when we were going 65/0, but it was the missiles and I knew Dropships would be screwed if CCP gutted the missiles too hard. I left vehicles at the end of Codex/beginning of Chromosome because I knew that those in charge at the time (CCP Blam) didn't have a freakin' clue to what to do with vehicles. I saw the writing on the wall and got the hell out.
They still don't know what to do with Dropships currently because Railguns and Forges still do too much damage too quickly. Neither with drop-off damage over range. (Archaic design, failure on all fronts. Throw sniper rifles in there also.) Fixes would involve upping the damage of those weapons considerably but give them fall-off damage over range like everything else. Rewards riskier play styles while punishes those that sit way back.
Another change I would personally do would be to change Dropships from a medium vehicle into a heavy vehicle, give them proper health and slots and turn them into the flying AMTRAC that it is supposed to be. Make the light air vehicle the jets and give us a goddamned Apache for a true medium air vehicle. Dropships have too low health, too few slots, and are too damned slow to be a medium vehicle. |
