Honestly the only thing that needs to change is the speed (Bas speed, not speed with the mods) and the Railgun Turret damage. I was squadded with a tanker and he lost a tank with Proto turrets to a Sica with a Militia Railgun turret
Firstly 2 questions
1) if I was in a standard suit with a proto gun and died to a militia suit and militia gun would it be reasonable to say that the militia suit + gun needs a nerf because I died from it?
2) if I wanted to run around in proto suits all day and could not make a profit doing so, is the game broken? or am I running gear that I cannot afford because I am not good enough?
with tanks different turrets suit different things, also just because you have better does not mean you cannot be either taken at a disadvantage or outplayed. saying that a standard tank with a proto gun should beat a militia tank with a militia gun should only be the case if all things are equal which will happen.
proto rail gun>militia rail gun standard tank>militia tank
add the 2 together and its quite an advantage as it is with the suits and guns for the grunts.
I agree that making isk was a problem for most tankers. prior to the patch its far to say that using a militia tank/fit was mostly unviable due to performance and needless to say it cost more too. After the patch a militia fit has become more than viable for fighting with due to the buffs of tanks and nerfs of AV. The problem with the militia tank is that its simply too profitable, you can loose 3 in a match and make a reasonable profit.
Personally I do not believe that militia tanks should cost the same as an advanced logistics suit with some proto on. if you loose as many tanks as that logistics player looses suits then you have a problem. the risk vs reward is unbalanced between the 2 and its the reason why if tanks stand in their current power they need a hefty price rise as tank spam is not healthy.
I would honestly say that tanks need their base top speed to be cut by 25-50% and have a far greater speed reduction for rough terrain. lets face it currently there is little obstacle to any terrain bar a building being in front of you which just makes it too easy to get away. These 2 measures should make tanks more easy to tackle for infantry and tank vs tank stop the stupid tank chases zooming around the map which are tedious and when zooming to the redline irritating.

message from Godin: Considering it's tech 1 hull vs. tech 2, yes it should.
we only have tech 1 hulls - we have different tiers of hulls though.
tell Godin he is wrong and that tech 2 is after the first 5 tiers and is yet to be implemented.
what sort of newb is he to be so confused? |

The same goes for Soma/Madrugar. The only difference between the two is an extra slot and some more PG and CPU to fill it.
I fail to see your point? a standard sentinel suit has the same EHP as the proto, yet the extra CPU/PG and slots make the proto a better suit

It goes: tech 1, then tech 2, faction, pirate, then tech 3. Ships don't deal with the meta level system. You are talking about the modules.
EVE may have changed by taking out the pre requisites of different tiers of cruisers - but it does not change anything. there are no tech 2 modules, vehicles or suits in Dust
Godin is too stupid to know when he is wrong. |
