Ive noticed lately that tankers often fit active scanners now, and my squadmate whom I was using as a test subject was constantly getting scanned was easy proof of this. Not to mention the big flashy scanner animation on the tanks now. Just about any armor tank runs these things. Now for my gatherings about this.
If you can get a tank eager for a kill with a decoy that can actually stay alive, like a long swarm user of the lower variety so it just seems like a given. This has worked the best for results so far; you can actually get a tank to hold still sometimes. Thats when I should see people strike. No more of this shooting at them with your assault rifles and things that just dont do damage to tanks. Sneak up on them and plant 3 of any remote charge on their tank and watch for their hardener to go down.
Last night I successfully killed 5-6 tanks using this tactic within 3 matches. The scout suit with a single enhanced dampener at my level avoids all but prototype scanners so Im never on a tanks radar. It just seems to be a role that has surfaced from the massive increase in vehicle use.
It is also very fun to plant explosives on a hacking targets lav and wait for them to finish and start driving away before blowing them up. I can counterhack from 60% of the upload completion without problem solo anyway. Just saying, quite fun to watch them drive off, hit a jump and press a button mid air to kill a proto in their car. Bonus points for their teammates being in the car with them. Quite literally in fact.

Disturbingly Bored wrote:I've been seeing several encouraging Scout posts lately. Between this and the surprisingly effective Scout/Combat Rifle combo, I'll have to get my Dragonfly out and give it another go.
Looks like 1.7 is turning out to be a bit kinder to the fatties and skinnies than I thought it'd be. The rail rifles actually work really well too for a ranged scout. Picking people off is pretty easy for my stealth hacking build using the advanced rail. I actually run a valor myself.

Everything Dies wrote:Had my first tank/RE kill yesterday in a medium suit with a basic dampener. What a rush! Left node C after a quick outfit swap (shotty scout to somewhat-sneaky medium RR build) and heard a tank approaching. Spotted the tank and figured, "What the hell, why run back and change to proto AV? Let's try out the RES!" While the rail tank focused on taking out the railgun turret next to C, I made my way around the silo-looking building across from C and calmly walked up behind the tank and threw my three REs on the back of it. Slunk back around the structure and BOOM! one dead tank, two dead reds. My new favorite moment in the game. Now I'll just have to try it out with a scout build... You should play scout with your re's as an aggressive type character. You can pull off some really cool killfeeds when you are focused on getting through an area and planting re's rather than directly engaging. Got 7 off a cluster in one match. It looked like an orbital on the feed

Canis Ferox wrote:Thank you for this Zalinto - as my previous, hlariously named 'TANK KILLER' fit is now utterly redundant and I have recently into scouts - without having had much cause to use them - I will look forward to trying this tonight with more eagerness than a rescue puppy waiting for Christmas day.
Sticky bombs have to be the finest thing about 1.7. I still haven't done a Al Qieda LAV, demo-truck, kamikaze! "Durka durka, Islama Jihad!"
+1 for you sir, Merry Christmas. If your going to try this remember that misdirection is the key to victory in this. Have someone be a rabbit to move the tank into a position that benefits you, then place three on the rear of the tank if possible though anywhere will work. Never move for the front of the tank and keep to the turrets blind side. If its not possible to hide or there's a lot of open ground, abort your mission and keep waiting for an opportunity that benefits you. This is how a scout should always operate.

ResistanceGTA wrote:I've really been thinking about getting into the scout, always thought it would be fun. Killing these tanks with Boundless RE's on my dragonfly... Really want a proto suit to do it better.
Dang it, now I'm gonna get a proto scout suit. I'm feeling Gal, any suggestions almighty scout gods? Proto scout is a long way honestly. If your going to be a scout, core skills need to be topped off, you need to take a weapon that has heavy damage spikes due to your thinner armor. You need to kill quick. What else....invest in profile dampening at least to three. Id run one weapon, dont bother with a damage mod, you need all your cpu and other things generally for your utility slots, like a profile dampener and a codebreaker in my case. I cant fit even a basic mod on my main suit.
