Alright guys. I havent tried it yet and am about to but for anyone who doesnt know what CCP did, I got you.
CHANGES:
- Accuracy rating: From 61 to 38.89
- RPM: changed from 2000 to 2400 on std versions
Impact:
- What this will do is that the HMG will actually fill it's spread and not feel like a laser rifle being used at CQC. You no longer have to use that pixel of dispersion but will have an the whole spread to use.
- The second thing is that to compensate for the drop in accuracy CCP have graciously granted us an extra 400 RPM. Meaning that the overall effect will be more damage on a well aimed stream.
Thank you CCP. Although I havent tested it yet I will be giving it a thorough review. I Know this will make it awesome.

CCP Has not dissapointed with this hotfix. They have delivered what is, in my opinion, the perfect balance. It's devastating in CQC and not that efficient at farther distances. This trade off is a good one. Because the weapon was not good at any range or at least not efficient. Now it lives up to the CQC monster CCP envisioned.
I am completely happy with the ranges. Yes I can no longer tickle my opponent at the ranges I used to be able to tickle him. But it's no longer a tickle fest in CQC either.
The HMG has turne into the proverbial punch in the nuts to anyone daring to get close to you.
If you don't like the range I don't know what to tell you. I just enjoy having a functional weapon that outgunns anyone in my range and is outgunned by anyone outside of it's range like it's supposed to.

The HMG being a CQC weapon bothers me because projectiles are mid-range, and we will eventually have a blaster Gallente heavy weapon, and blasters are meant to be close range. If the mid range heavy weapon is close range, then Gallente on will be uselessly close range plus low mobility is a major pain. Hopefully the heavy laser laser weapon will fill the role of a good mid range option.
Regarding the hotfix, I would have preferred more range instead of the increased fire rate, but its actually pretty damn great. The HMG is useful again, and I', enjoying it on my alt.

Doesnt matter in Dust 514: PC. FW Standing. Tanking Type. Other mods than DMG or HP.
Does matter in Dust 514: Rifles.

We I am glad they fixed it. They'll probably mess with the numbers once other variants come out. But now they have a base damage model for other heavy weaponry. It will be a lot easier to balance the other heavy weapons with the data they will collect on the HMG usage.
This is an amazing step forward for heavies in general.

Burst variant I have not thoroughly tested. The pause in between bursts is just not balanced enough yet. Although like I said. Thorough testing is needed. I have tried it but not that much today. I will get you some info on it in a bit.

Since the spread is Higher; that 20% in dps is lost in shots missed because of decreased accuracy rating. CCP thought ahead ad was gracious enough to fix it before hand.

HMG wins over almost everything of it's skill. But when out of it's range everything of it's skill level dominates it. so a combat rifle at it's range dominates the HMG but if the combat rile user is at the HMG's range then the HMG will win

And that, gentlemen, is what we call "balance."
ED: This also means that in the current state of the game, Heavy is very lethal up close with HMG, very lethal at a distance with FG, and suffers in the middle ranges.
That sounds totally fair to me, and it just might hold me over until new suit/weapon content comes out.
