Maybe you usually hang out on US servers or something because i'm accustomed to seeing russian players very often on EU servers.

Basically because while everyone else is playing "space commander" or "space politician" the russians are playing "metagame mafia", smoking Ukrainian cigarettes in smoky darkened rooms, considering whoes real life house they are going to cut power to in order to win an eve battle.
Also something about aluminium or whatever.

I'm on North American server, and I see them.
I've actually squaded with some Russians randomly, and even with no easy ability to communicate (I Don't speak Russian, though a few of them spoke english) they are a blast to play with. Some awesome teamwork. One squad was entirely Gal scout  Still a little sad that they had warmer weather than me though

I used to play with and for in clan battles, a random russian clan on MAG
also have grouped up with russian troops of dooms and russian clones of chaos whoever they are.
they like their tanks............. |

Other than being good team players and having large numbers... one thing that worked to the Russian advantage in EVE is that they are off-timezone. Russians could field large fleets in time zones when the Euros were at work and the Americans (North and South) would have to "alarm clock" it to attend.
Add to the fact that, due to language, they tended to group together in tight-knit groups... and the language barrier naturally eliminated a large number of attempted spying attempts (i.e. if they don't speak russian, don't give them any roles in the corp)... yeah, you get a pretty nasty powerhouse that has traditionally owned the east and south east in EVE.
Don't **** off the Russians... it almost always ends badly.

I used to love fighting them in drone space back in the day, I wouldn't eally say scary.. but when people like to say internet space ships is serious business, they are the perfect example lol, take it very serious. |

haha nice! Never know who your going to be fighting in Eve, be killing anomolies together one day and then trying to kill each other on gates the next for a system grab haha |

i once stole from a bunch of russian mission runners in EvE, they war Deced my little 3 man corp, and overnight my corp magically gained about 40ish members that wanted a piece of those russian bears :P
