Not just the NPC Corps. One thing a more experienced corp offers is a greater collection of brains solving problems. A lot of the players I see on here complaining are in the tiny 20 man corps. If you considered joining an alliance or corp with more players helping cover each others holes, you'd probably have a better time at this game and feel more competitive. |

If you enjoy getting stomped, having bad strategies, not realizing what you can do to get out of the losing streak, only so you can have a silly corp name you picked, then go ahead. |

At the very least find a channel with lots of people you can squad up with in the same servers, who play at the same times as you, and who you enjoy playing with.

Not RTS or MMO. You don't tell players especially new players to join already established clans
*corps..*
whatever. What if they want to start their own of just 10 friends and then expand? I get what your saying, players invested on the eve side of things will have it easier, But this is a FPS.
EDIT: Not everyone wants to fight for a corp or cause or faction. some are just warriors. straight up mercs. fighting for who ever. |

Actually, I'm one of the beta vets. My usual win streaks is between 10-20. lolz. Only the anti-social have issues with working with strangers. It's extremely easy to.

No I'm not talking about Eve side investment. I'm talking about the entitled complainers who whine the instant the new patch comes out that their playstyle has been nerfed. They don't have any level headed people nearby to tell them, "Hold on a bit, test out a few new fits, experiment, adapt and you will be fine."
Another way of putting it. The bigger your corp, the more people that can 'run experiments' to figure out how to play what to fight in, and what works good together. If you play with the same 5-10 people and you all run caldari logi then when they touch shields you will feel violated, until you realize how everything else is supposed to work together and that you've actually been going up against the hardest hitting shield weapons already, and the new rifles won't hurt as much. |

If you are already in a vet alliance/coalition then why are you commenting. I'm trying to give advice to improve new players' experience and help their learning curve. The best thing they can do for themselves is get plugged in to the more experienced areas as possible. Living in the 'FPS-skill-ghetto' will perpetuate their own poor playstyles such as red line snipering.

See this is what cracks me up. So being a bigger corp somehow makes you a better player. I recently created a corp to fly into the face of other corps ideology. I think a person should have fun first, then focus on building oneself, and after all this is to a fine point. We can then focus channeling the energy into something great. A corp is more than PC, KD/R, or even corp pride. Its about hanging out with others, having a few laughs, and trying to do something no one else has done. This is what makes Scavenger's Daughter special, for we do not see a player, we see a person, and from that concept we acknowledge that they like us deserve respect and to not be judged for whatever ideology someone says is the right one.

Sounds like you have a fine corp. My main observation was that I noticed a correlation between whiners on the forums and small corps. They are whining because they aren't having fun, and can't figure out a way out of the stomping they are exposed to. |

I get it. I was just saying it's the same with any FPS game. running with clan mates is better then running with randoms. But running with randoms makes you a better FPS player cause it forces you to give more. It makes you lift bro.
*you don't have your buds to pick up the slack*
I'm in a clan in most FPS games. But not here. been here since closed beta. why haven't I joined a corp?
*the ones with the cute girls weren't looking for new members..*
shut up. ahem.. cause I prefer being a straight up merc. plus I wouldn't be the last of the ninja cowboys if I didn't get all this exp from fighting solo.
Same with players that play dedicated roles. You can't force em play other roles. Not all players jump on the WHATS IN NOW BAND WAGON. so the QQ never stop? of course not. but that's every game. |

I have watched Roner run solo and still stomp a squad if full proto into the ground and they where all from the same corp. I dont think it has much to do with what corp you are in I think it comes down to skill. But there are Vets on eve that have been in a starter corp long befor Dust got started and they are just fine there and I bet there are starter corp vets on Dust and they do just as good.
But I spose the thing is that you are over looking in said starter corps there is no politics and no drama. So Yeah I see why some people stay in a starter corp I use to be in one for a long time and was a pretty good player and I would be now if it wasnt for my wife dragging me around to diffrent corps. All I would say to new players is join a chat and get to know some good players to learn some new stuff about the game. |

True, there is a matching of QQs and small corps. But joining a big corp to solve it isn't that simple.
And if everyone just joined a big corp, no new corps would get started. A year from now there could be a whole new list of corps on the landscape, because one of those 10 man corps exploded into a major player.

No thanks.
Why would I want to join a big name corp? They are more likely to call it quits when they lose their districts anyway.
I wouldn't have broken off from my old corp and made a new one if I wanted all of the stuff that big name corps offered.
Also, if you think that being in a bigger corp makes you a better player, then you have some screws loose.

i think what Beren is trying to say isn't JOIN BIG CORP LOSE SENSE OF IDENTITY AND BECOME ZERG NATION i think its more along the lines of if you are having troubles, need some guidance, want some help testing things out, having trouble with things and you're not finding it within your current means, don't be afraid to look elsewhere.
I've been in Squad Finder as of late and have run into a lot of people who are in dead corps who are attached to the name or their friend or whatever, who are just looking to expand their knowledge and player interaction base.
i direct them to FW channels, Pub channels, Corp channels, people in game, The Learning Coaltion and DUST University based on their needs and i've still seen them to this day in those channels, interacting and trying things out. comm's on and chatting and feeling like part of the community again.
it sucks logging into the game and having no one on in corp or anyone in your channels.. It's hard to participate in PC if you don't know any of the corps in PC. It's a game mode in the game they have no access to.
QQing on the forums that 'i suck because of nerfs or being protostomped' doesn't solve anything. Adapt, outsmart, outplay. If you can't figure it out, ask.
The best resource? Active corps and alliances. Someone who can talk with you about fits, play the game with you in a communicative squad that works together.
I appreciate what Beren is trying to do here
