Tanks have been "GOD MODE" twice now, LogiLAVs have had a go. When are dropships going to be indestructible?? Sure they survive a bit longer now but still a few FG blast and we are toast. No way to hide from a FG that wants you dead. It is only fair that you give us pilots a shot at dominating the battlefield. |

I said before that if DS's ever are OP, it'll be a breath of fresh air and LITERALLY NO ONE would complain. I got likes from AV on that post, for Christ's sake.

Unless you're dealing with proto FG with complex damage mods or a railgunner with several placed shots, I rarely see or have been able to, destroy a DS/ADS that wasnt completely stationary or unoccupied. I havent reached that point where I could see how a DS could handle 2 FGers unloading at the same time but I have had moments where we had 2 SL users and 1 FGer that couldnt get a decent hit on the ADS before it hardended, shield boosted to full HP, and flew to the ceiling cap in seconds and repeat the process when cooldown resets. |

I don't know how long you've been here for but they had their turn alright. Along with missile tanks in beta, they were crazy good.

I've had, on many occasions my DS get instapopped by three railguns hitting me at once.

I don't think Dropships have to be "GOD MODE" to be worthwhile. They're at a pretty good spot right now, probably the most balanced of all the vehicles currently. They're strong enough to do their job but not controller snappingly powerful. I've seen Assault Dropships go 22-0 because no one wanted to be bothered to switch to AV, and I've seen them being hunted by forge guns after doing one of their jobs of shepherding troops into the battlefield. I know it's unlike us to remember things like this but CCP isn't just balancing for now but they need to get the balance right for the future as well. They've already said there will be fast attack ships and bombers in the game and that will be more the vehicle choice for someone who wants the "GOD MODE" type of game play. The dropship's main job is to be a dropship and support infantry mobility. Making it an amazing anti-infantry vehicle just leaves less room for those other vehicles when they're up to snuff for release. |

You missed that time in Beta when we were stuck on the Line Harvest Map (not this extra fancy new fangled one that lets you go behind the towers) and all militia vehicles where Starter Fits. Pre-missile nerf and terribly bad Blasters. It took a few million SP in fitting & piloting skills but it was fun.
- Chasing LAVs and HAVs like in the video - Monty Python-ing unfortunate mercs - Door gunners calling out SL directionals followed by attempts to out maneuver the kittens
Come to think of it they weren't God-Mode unless you count landing on a tower and using the red indicator to camp Null Cannons without ever visually seeing the kills. I'll admit that was a little messed up.

I wouldnt say dropships are OP, but the missile turret needs a damage tone down by 1/3. Its pretty rediculous to 2 shot most mediums and 3 shot heavies, you can cut it down to one shot with medium and 2 shots for heavies if you can get a direct hit. |

I'd agree with this. That was the only thing about them that seemed just a little over the top but it's still a delicate balancing act since they need to be exposed to do this and not moving at all. If a forge gunner is paying attention and looking for his shots they probably won't even be able to get that second shot off before they go into panic mode and have to flee. It's really hard for me to make a judgement call on exactly where the fair line is simply because the scenario can be so drastically different on a case by case basis. |

Iv been wondering how CCP are going to handle the extra roles they talked about ie. bomber DS and AA HAV. I suspect Bombers will destroy HAVs but AAHAV will eradicate DSs but be weak to AV. (bit off topic but wondered how DS pilots feel this might work) |
