message from Godin:
Since 1.7 dropped, I have been making a list of how many Caldari vehicles and Gallente vehicles that I see on the field. Long story short, i've got a ratio (Caldari to Gallente) of 3:1.
When I found this out, I was like "wtf is up with this ****?" and I went to investigate. I searched for hours to find out why, and was talking to Mr. Pearson, and found out why.
Those things have insane abilities to fit stuff. remember how caldari HAV's couldn't really fit blasters? Now they can fit PROTO ones easily. Gallente HAV's can't even fit them without having a gimped fit.
No wonder why I've been seeing Gunnlgi's with Ion Cannons (well, it's not like they're killing me or anything), yet the highest I've seen a Maddy go is a neutron Blaster. That needs fixing.
Also, I found out that they can almost perma run their hardeners. Yes, I **** you not. At least with Gallente HAV's you can't perma run without having no local repps. with Caldari vehicles, you always have repps, and therefore you don't need to put one on.
Those issues needs looking into.

I do agree blasters should be a hard fit for Gunnlogi's and an easier fit for Madrugar's, I would gladly exchange the ability to fit damage mods without impeding my fit for blasters
Doesn't the armor tanks hardeners cool down last only like 36 seconds or something while the active time is past that.

Yes, armor tanks are beginner friendly while shield tanks can be better once you get more SP due to better CPU and PG. You can make good low-level Missile and Railgun sets with a CPU mod on a Madrugar and have comparable performance other than the reps. At higher levels it becomes hard to fit anything other than Blasters, which shield tanks have little problem fitting. I only usually use Madrugars when there are no more enemy HAVs on the field or we out number them. I find my Madrugars end up being CPU capped on many fits. For instance, to run double hardeners and a repper with a ADV amped Blaster, all my modules need to be Basic ATM. My Gunny can fit 2 Enhanced Shield Hardeners, some decent armor tank in the lows to escape and fit the same amped Blaster no sweat.
Regen under hardeners needs nerfing (not total removal, though) due to how much more effective they are when each point of HP stops so much damage after hardeners. A double hardened shield tank regens the equivalent of 1000 HP of damage a second after resistances. Madrugar CPU needs a buff. HAVs need to cost 120k/200k and modules need to cost 20% more.
Many suits I've worn, many burdens I've borne, for the oaths I've sworn.

Gimped fit how? I run a Madrugar with Ion cannons and still have room for 2 reppers and 1 hardener. No room for small turrets or a scanner, but I can fit a basic nos on it just fine... |

You never need to retreat with a Sica, not to mention you can turn on a dime and don't have to be moving forwards or backwards to turn the tank.
Sica should be the clear choice as Armour tanks are now garbage.

Funny that this is fact, as Armor tanks are supposed to be "Stay and fight" vs Shield "Hit and Run".

If a Sica has 2 Basic Hardeners and 0 SP into core skills, they'll have 48 seconds cycled hardened, 76 seconds cooldown after second Hardener is finished. If you only pop them when needed, you might only need to wait a minute. It depends how heavy AV is. What do you do? I know for a fact you're a better tanker than me and have been doing this a lot longer. My Gunny usually needs to retreat for about 20 seconds after both hardeners have been expended, with cooloff between the hardeners if I can get it, but I don't use Complex or have maxed cooldown/duration.

Not necesarily .
My Soma has armor rep + hardener + Damage mod and Fuel injector. So i do have more damage output and speed if necesary.
but just, the roles are inverted.
My soma is Hit and run . My Sica is the Heavy resistance CQ battler.

message from Godin: They're still killable, those things just.... bothers me. perma running hardeners shouldn't be a thing, as it breaks the concept of period of strength, period of weakness. Also, The blasters easily fitting on the opposing race's hull while the race who's using them's hull can't even fit it with a good tank makes no sense and needs fixing. The only other problems is that they need a speed nerf, say 5-10 m/s. OR a acceleration nerf of about 10-20%, and that rails are far superior to forges, and that needs looking at. Otherwise, they are absolutely perfect. Swarms, Forges, and AV nades do just the right amount of damage, the times (other than the Shield hardeners) for the periods are perfect, there's no insane repps, and hunting for HAV's is now viable over just sitting there and waiting for the HAV to pass by, then insta pop it.

That 2 reppers 1 hardener fit is only useful when fighting basic infantry infantry. Otherwise, it's useless. Come at me with it, and I'll make it look like ****
EDIT: Also, what's the tier of the reppers and hardener? |

so i dont know how relible godins info is. but i ahve no trouble in killing gunnlogi's. my ion cannon maddy just beats them into submission.
i also ahve another maddy fit with only 2 compex reppers/ basic repper and ion cannon. such insane rep i dont need to fill the high slots. |
