Trending towards Madrugar as still being king of tanks.
Complex Heavy Armor rep 145hp/sec Complex Heavy Shield rep 1950/40sec
In 40 sec shields can do 1950 and armor does 5,800.
This is while under fire. I know shields passive regen is 168hp/sec when not engaged. In a tank-tank fight the armor tank will outrep a shield tank without the need to activate a module. Meaning damage is uninterrupted.
If my math is wrong, please correct me. |

Proto missiles can almost take a tank out in one clip slip behind a madrugar and in 1.8 seconds you can pop him.

One is hit and run at medium to long range, one is staying power in close range. What seems to be the problem? It seems balanced to me. Plus, according to Godin, shield hardeners are now OP. |

Shield Booster kick starts Shield Regeneration. Which means that a Gunnlogi recharging at 168 HP/S is actually getting 1950 from the Booster's immediate lump and then 6720 back from natural regeneration. Of course, the Shield tank is highly unlikely to need the full length to return to maximum health, but Shield Regen has always been faster than Armour regeneration. |

Complex Armor Rep + Full Skills = 181 hp/second Passive Shield Recharge = 168 hp/second Heavy Shield Booster = 1950 HP instantly = 10.7 seconds of Complex Armor Repping
Cooldown on Complex Booster is...30 seconds with full skills?
Armor Reps 30 * 181 = 5430 HP
Shield Reps + Booster 1950 + 168 * 30 = 6990 HP
Shields are superior is HP regeneration as long as they can avoid damage.
Armor is superior if forced to take damage.
This means shields are best used for hit and run, dropping massive amounts of burst damage and tanking though excessive incoming damage for a short period of time, before fleeing to reload and regenerate HP quickly.
Armor is more suited to tanking moderate amounts of sustained damage over extended periods of time. This makes them suitable to fight infantry up close as well and move in quickly to engage shields at close range.
So to answer your question, yes, in a one on one close quarters battle, the armor is usually wreck the shield, especially if the shield isn't using a burst damage turret. Cant tell you how many times I have shield tanks get up in my face with a blaster and I just laugh as my armor stays at +90% while they get ripped apart.
That being said however, a missile tank will instantly kill an unhardened armor tank, and gravely wound a reinforced one. So if they keep they're distance they're a force to be reckoned with.
